Stuff like music is pretty much up to personal preference though right? When it comes to the nature of reality I think it gets more complicated and less relativistic/subjective. The bandwagon effect sucks but I don't think that means all opinions are on equal footing

I'm not great on articulating this sort of thing but I somewhat agree and somewhat disagree with what you're saying I think. As much as I love Terence, I do find myself disagreeing with some of his key ideas lately, but this one always resonated with me (and the ending comment by Sheldrake is hilarious)

And it's more complicated if we assume certain sameness of the experience of consciousness, which we can't really verify.

To be honest, this is what goes on inside my head regularly, but I tend to hide it the best I can without being too inauthentic.

If we are talking about matters of taste, then yes. If we are talking about metaphysics, then yes.
If we are talking about practical matters: the opinion that drinking gasoline daily is harmful for your health is not at the same level as the opposite. It can be easily tested (at a high cost). If doing that is "good" or "bad" is a different matter.

I may be misunderstanding the point. But if we take statement S: "no statement is true", what do we know? If we take S to be true it's false so we can't, if we take S to be false it's false. Therefore S is false.

And yes, this is based on a logical system out of infinitely many, but this one has the quality to work more or less well for many practical matters. See the gasoline above. That doesn't mean it's perfect or universally useful, though.

Yeah, logic is too recursive and self defeating if you follow it deep enough. You have to input emotion, instinct, love, experience, trust... that kind of stuff somewhere along the chain, otherwise its just madness imo.

I feel like this sort of conversations are actually emotional at its core, we are just beating around the bush at that point.

I think wisdom is at a higher level than our intellect, and we need to develop it instead. Wisdom is fine with paradoxes, where logic crumbles and creates tightness in the psyche. Opinions exist in the realm of logic and the ego-mind, while wisdom goes even beyond them. The weight of your opinion from a position of intellect differs from a position of real wisdom. What's your reference point?

The use of logic is inherently emotional and is also relegated to it's usefulness to us. Usefulness doesn't entail knowledge about reality, just shows us figuring out what to do with it.
I used the musical argument because I knew I could count on "serious" counterexamples being provided.

The point is, while I'm not gonna drink gasoline, the parameters for the decision around drinking it and music above are the same. What makes drinking gasoline bad? The emotional state of a person's determines this.

The fact that many people align doesnt stipulate it's more valid, just simply that they agree. They share the same bias. Once we say something is good or bad, we're dancing with opinion.

And what may be loving to one may not be loving to another (using loving is a very mutable sense) and in turn what one may find wise or wisdom may not be held so hy another.
We dance with opinion again.
