No need to apologize, both of you. Life happens, sometimes we have to focus on things outside the internet, and that's perfectly fine. Breathe in, let it flow through you, and remember that all hardship is temporary. Sending you both some love
Unfortunately some of the hardship from childhood isn't really letting up. Idk if it'll ever go away and it's eating me alive.
Sorry, thank you for your kindness and positivity. I'm just struggling.
Childhood trauma isn't something one just lets go, I know how hard it can be. I'm struggling with some stuff as well. It's a process, but it's so challenging when the process drags on for decades without any resolution in clear sight. Stay strong, brother. And reach out if you feel the need to. I'm always there for you.
I checked myself on my own trauma denial recently and it's destroying me. Guess the state of my mental health is an accurate reflection and I'm not just a baby...
Hi Void, Just wondering if you have tracked your macros/micros before? I know you are on a strict diet, and I want to share that when I was fruitarian and strict vegan I had mood imbalanced that went away when I was eating as much as I wanted and Mediterranean.
I feel my best when I use Cronometer and hit all my targets, set to maintain my weight. I've heard recent research on podcasts like Rhonda Patrick and Peter Attia that high intensity cardio has the most longevity benefits out of all diet and exercise protocols, and it's necessary to consume enough calories and protein to be able to hit 75-80% max heart rate and recover quickly. All best, JH
@jungleheart Hey thank you so much for your thoughts. Diet is really important. Part of the reason for my relatively strict eating is for financial reasons. But I aim for it to be well-rounded and as complete as possible. Another problem I regularly encounter is that I have difficulty eating, especially at times like these.
Dreamer and I just blocked social media websites at the router level and added apps to block them on our phones. We have to have a discussion with each other before using social media. According to dreamer's research and harm reduction experience, it has literally the same effects as heroin. We're going to make a post discussing this soon and recommending turning it off at the router level.
Blocking it was necessary to maintain our (my) sanity. I had a manic episode starting the day of the election and went back on medication after a few days of not sleeping and grandiose ideas. I feel positive and not thinking about current events excessively now.
I have a lot of observations about social media which is why I don't use it aside from YouTube, which has become a little bit of a problem. It's good you guys are noticing its nefarious effects though. It seems to be doing more harm than good and will only continue to do so since people can't control their use of it.
Looking forward to that post! I've deleted all social media (except LinkedIn for professional reasons) and, similar to Void, have an addiction problem only with YouTube. Though it can be turned around into a positive thing when I focus on consuming exclusively educational content. However, I find that to be very difficult especially during periods of increased stress where I just want to "chill out".
AFAIK, deleting your history does nothing. It's kind of like deleting the desktop shortcuts and thinking you're uninstalling the apps. They keep your history cached. And combatting the algorithm isn't my issue. I'm not a victim of it, but a victim of my own bad habits.
