10X Caapi Changa - Disappointing, doesn't smoke very well.

Migrated topic.

Made some 10x Caapi Changa using the boiling method. Have to say that it really doesn't smoke well at all. The usual Changa mix that I make smokes really well, this is same mix but 10x. It's a nightmare to get a cherry going. It ends up going really hard and rock like as opposed to leafy. I end up overheating and then not tripping at all.

Anyone else experience this?

Maybe extracting freebase harmalas using a different method and then adding to changa would be better.

Yeah it's totally dry. Just to be clear here's what I did -

2X Boiled 20g Caapi Leaf down to a small amount of thick viscous dark red liquid. Soaked 2g of my changa mix in this liquid and then let it evap. The changa goes very dark, hard and rock like.

Is this what yours is like?

Changa looks darker and grittier when just extracted harmalas have been infused in it, so it's no surprise that if other plant waxes and oils are also included, the texture is harder and rockier once fully dry.

I've never had problems smoking or vaporizing changa with infused harmalas, it will surely make a smoother smoke if you try.

I dunno where you got the idea that people do that..do people here do that? I cant imagine why..an alcohol extract is way cleaner. I would not smoke evaporated tea goo in my changa. Not hard to imagine that your having trouble getting it to burn evenly.

Just soak the leaf in alcohol the way other herbal tinctures are made..then decant and filter though some cotton balls.

Strange that others have no problem with this. I guess it could be this:

The plant matter is increasing in weight from 2g to 7g after 10x enhancement, yet I still use 2g of spice to infuse so maybe it's just coming out really weak. I guess infusing it with 7g of spice would be the way to go and would make it of equal strength to my normal changa.

I could do an experiment and take 1g of the 10x enhanced stuff and infuse it with 1g of spice and see what that is like.

I'm having the same issue w/ my next batch, and I really do not want to screw it up w/ all the effort involved. A lot of people seem to swear by the 10x method, but mathematically, it just doesn't work out.

I am trying to decide between extracting alks from caapi vine ala Gibran's tek, or just boil down my caapi leafs and match the post-infused weight w/ spice. Ahh.. not sure which path to take, I feel your frustration.

Another option may be to sublingually take harmalas and just smoke my standard un-enhanced leaf on top of that.

Not sure what to tell ya, mate. I am in the same boat.

Definitely extract harmalas they work very well and you can infuse any herb with it. Just my experience :)

Good idea. Then if you happy with it just do the rest.

well dude, theres your problem!!

I figured thats what people usually do when they speak of 10x caapi changa. It worked great for me.

tried a different method for making it 10 x ?

the ipa alcohol soak method works well.only down side is that it takes up to a week or 2 max to get all the goods in the solution.

I'm wondering if you stuck to the original weight when dosing from the 7gram x10?

2g:2g = 4g (500mg per 1gram)
+ 5gram juice..
= 500mg per 2.3grams leaf... sound right??

I imagine being fine with a 250mg dose rolled hit

I think i have the same problem.
I used the boiling method with 10 g caapi leaves
1 gram was infused and now when its dry the weight is 2,8 gram and it doesnt burn really well.

I havent tried vaporized it yet, just burned with a tourch and it didnt go so well.
The leaves is really hard and darkbrown.

caapi leaves work waaaaay better for changa from my experience

(edit: geez I posted without reading the entire thread, I hate when people do that!)

Make the 10x caapi leaf BEFORE adding in the dmt...Let it dry out fully, then weigh it again. Obviously, it will have gained a lot of weight and if you would have added the dmt beforehand it would not be anywhere near a 1:1 leaf/dmt ratio..

I messed this up the first time and it was very very difficult to breakthrough with. But when i did it right and actually had a 1:1 ratio in the end of caapi/dmt it was an amazing batch!

If you mess it up the first time, no worries; just infuse more dmt into it until its around a 1:1 ratio
