1KG extraction in fear of MHRB ban. first results

Hey nexus

I am a fairly new member, and this is my third extraction.
first was 100g, then 350.

And now with all this talk of MHRB troubles, I purchased 1kg of powdered MHRB.

I am half way through the extraction, with the first 2 pulls done and the third in the freezer.
My reason for posting is to show the simplicity of my procedure, and hopefully motivate others.
This is a STB tek, with no heating, and can be done with easy to obtain chemicals.

Materials:
23L glass carboy. (used for wine and beer making)
3x 1L jars with lids.
18L water.
1kg MHRB.
1kg Lye.
2L naptha.
plastic tubing.

procedure:

18L of water, 1KG Lye are mixed in glass carboy slowly. when all the Lye has dissolved, the MHRB is added. The mixture was left to sit for a day, and breakdown the plant.

The next day. 1 litre of naphtha was added to the carboy.(sounds like a lot, but wait for results to bash :p) the carboy was then turned end over end for several minutes, then let stand until all the naphtha returned to the surface. The agitation and separation steps were repeated 4 more times.

The naphtha was decanted into a 1 litre jar and put into the freezer.

Fresh naphtha was added to the carboy, and the above process of agitation and separation was repeated. 2nd pull was decanted into separate jar and place in freezer.

after 24 hours in the freezer, the naphtha was poured from the jars, and the DMT was scraped off the bottom and left to dry.
The DRY weight of the first pull was 5.9g
The dry weight of the second pull was 3.94g
for a total of 9.84g.

The naphtha from the first pull was placed back into carboy. The same steps of agitation and separation from above were repeated.(unfortunately something came up and the mixture was left overnight with naphtha in it) 3rd pull with re-used naphtha was pulled and place in freezer
AWAITING RESULTS!

will post back when I can, but just this extraction with a heavy work schedule lately is hard enough!

happy travels

I also have a fear of MHRB being banned so stocked up, although I've come to the conclusion its better to hold on to the MHRB and just extract small amounts when needed. Lasts longer that way, plus don't have large amounts of spice on you and in the off chance I'd rather be caught with bark than dmt.

I agree with ewok, moreover if you are performing a large scale extraction that will give you a few years worth of dmt it might be a good idea
to store your dmt as a fumarate salt, the freebase seems to be pretty stable but if that's your last mhrb extraction...

Freebase can be kept indefinitely in a freezer in tightly sealed glass jars containing oxygen absorbers.

This came up in another thread recently but I didn't get a conclusive answer - I extracted a lifetimes worth and made caapi leaf changa with it. As I now can't fumarate it (or can I?) - will changa last indefinately, or just a few years? Is there any anecdotal evidence for how long it lasts as changa? I don't want to store it in the freezer.

Dorge I'm sure you have something on this one!!

Why would you not want to store it in the freezer? If you want it to last that's the place to put it. The warmer the temperature the faster it will decompose.

BTW Yes you could extract your spice form your changa and then make the salt of it if you so desired and then in the future remake changa with it...but honestly I'd just store the change in the freezer!

Just that it isn't a secure place. There are children in and out of my freezer getting ice cream etc at times. I don't want any explaining to do.

I have it in an airtight jar in a cool, dark place, with oxygen absorbers.

Yes you could make it fumarate but you would basically have to re-extract it from your changa. Otherwise just keep it as is, Ive smoked over a year old spice that was just kept in a drawer, was perfectly fine, and I know of no degradation of dmt appart from oxidation (which would turn it into active n-oxide, no problem there, and even so I think its only a superficial oxidation).

But I also rather keep it in fumarate form if possible.

Hey nexus

Great thoughts on the storage.
mine will be in an airtight container, which lets in no light, and hopefully stored in the freezer, depending on how the house mates feel about it.

As for my extraction,

it was put on hold for a couple days, with no naphtha in the bark solution.

It resumed where left off, naphtha was added, agitated and removed.
placed in the freezer for several days, the result was 2.5g of yellow waxy spice.

for a total of 12.34g in 3 pulls,

A friend of mine is very interested in spice, the extraction took place at his house, as a learning experience for him, all the materials have been given to him to try a 4th pull on his own without help. If anything is made of it I will post the results

Happy travels

Wow that's a lot of spice! Nicely done, closet-chemist1010. I too would have kept it in bark form or as a fumarate salt (which you can convert from freebase if you wanted to), just in case it degrades a bit over time. As endlessness said, it is a pretty stable compound and even if it does convert to oxides, it is still very active.

1664, I wouldn't worry too much about your changa loosing potency. I have some plain leaf caapi changa that has sat in a jar in my cupboard for over a year and is just as potent as the day it was made.
