1st pull and no crystals

Migrated topic.

Firstly, I'd like to say hello, it's been quite some time since I've been around these parts:)

Recently, SWIM underwent her first extraction. She followed Nomans tek and everything was going well. The only thing that swim did differently from the tek, was let the mixture set for 24 hours before adding naphtha, and then waited 24 hours after that and then placed the harvested naphtha into the freezer for 24 hours.
After 24 hours in the freezer, swim saw that there were no crystals formed though there were a very thin layer attached to the bottom of the glass. After pouring out the Napa, swim tried to scrape the crystals up but there was next to nothing in there.
What may be the issue here?

How thoroughly and how many times did you mix the naphtha into the aqueous solution? How much time elapsed between the last time you mixed the naphtha into the aqueous solution and when you separated the layers? How cold is your freezer? These are all things that could keep crystals from precipitating. Also, how certain are you that the plant matter you are extracting from is mimosa hostilis rootbark?

After SWIM added the warm naphtha, she rolled te jar side to side slowly and easily about once an hour for 12 hours. SWIM seperated the layers within 5 minutes of the last rolls. As for the freezer, it is really cold.
SWIM believes that the root bark is mimosa hostilis because it has a purple tint to it.

Thank you:3

Hi....i don't mean to sound condescending or anything, but did you actually read the Tek properly, and by properly i mean over and over so you do everything exactly as the Tek shows you?

Reading what you have posted, well i'm scratching my head a little...

Sounds like you went from your Tek straight into a cold Tek.

Thats why you have no crystals, whatever DMT that was in the solvent, fell straight out and back down to the extract.

Next time make sure you have the time to do the Tek properly, if not then you will run into trouble....again.😉

I don't understand what you mean, as SWIM read the tek thoroughly and followed it step by step despite the times.
Care to elaborate?

I don't understand what you mean either... I thought it was pretty clear that spiritual7pioneer separated the naphtha and put it in another vessel for freeze-precipitation...

spiritual7pioneer, how much rootbark did you start with and how much naphtha did you use for each pull? It could be that your naphtha is not saturated enough, and needs to be reduced in order to freeze-precipitate.

Sorry spiritual, i just meant why did you leave for 24hrs when the Tek makes no mention of it?

Anyway my reply has come across all wrong, sorry.

SWIM began with 50g of root ark, and 50ml of naphtha.
I'm not sure if it matters in accordance to the lack of yield at this point, but SWIM didn't add new naphtha after siphoning out what she could. She had poured the naphtha from the freezer back with the mix.

No worries:)
SWIM found a tek nearly identical to Normans and thought increasing the time in a few steps would be beneficial as stated in the tek

Might be worth mixing the solvent more thoroughly, try turning the jar end over end for 5 mins.

First few pulls can be quite quick as there should be lots of magic to grab, I only do a long pull when most of the magic has been retrieved.

Unless very saturated the naphtha will happily sit on top of the basic solution for quite a while.

Did you look for any sign that there was a decent amount of DMT in your naphtha? If your naphtha clouds when you blow lightly on it then most likely it has enough DMT in it for it to drop out, if it doesn’t cloud you should leave it to evaporate until it does.

Yea, Noman mentions somewhere in the tek that it can be helpful to use .5mL naphtha for every gram of bark. This would allow your pulls to be more saturated, even though you might have to do a couple extra. Putting the whole extraction vessel in a heat bath while it is being agitated, while it is separating and while you siphon the solvent off will allow the pulls to be even more saturated. I would recommend one or both of these for the rest of your pulls.

For the pull that you already tried to precipitate, just evaporate about half of it off with a fan and you should be good to go.
