4x or tea from leaves?

Migrated topic.

Hello all. This is my first post on the harmalas forum. I usually just lurk the open discussion, but I finally have a reason to post outside that!

I recently ordered 112 grams (4oz) of caapi leaves. I've used caapi before to use for sandwich method, and to enjoy on its own. I recently found out about the caapi extracts (where you boil down and evap to make 20x, 10x, etc.)

My question is this: do I have enough leaves to boil down and make a worthy extract, or should I just stick to making tea until I order more?

Thanks for your time.

Technically you can use any amount you like, depending on how much leaf extract you want to get. If you use 100g, you will get 10g of 10x or 5g of 5x, if done right, and so on... I've done extracts of other leaves using only 20g and obtaining 2g of (theoretically) 10x. But it's true that the smaller amount of leaf you use, the more significant the inevitable small losses might be, and in my example assays by different people suggested that my extract was more likely 8x... but in the case of caapi leaves, I think the difference between a 8x or 10x won't be very significant considering the relatively low % of betacarbolines in the leaves and the usual active doses.

I'd just keep what I wanted to have as plain leaf, and do a 4x or 10x with the rest (user's choice), trying to minimize loss.

Thank you!

I think I'm gonna measure out 10g and try and do a gram of 10x and then make a gram of 20x and see which I prefer.

Just to make sure I have this right, I basically cut the leaves up into a small amount of water, boil for 3 hours, filter, reduce, then mix in my gram of regular leaf and let it evap?
