A few precipitate questions

Hi,

SWIM is doing an extraction with P. Brachystachys and he is running low on naptha. So instead of doing a normal A/B extraction which would require multiple defats SWIM decided to add a citric acid sol't dropwise (at ph 3-4) to the naptha extract of freebase DMT and plant oils (to get the naptha extract he acidified his plant material [to ph 4], filtered it, freebased it [to ph 9-10] and added hot naptha then separated).

SWIM expected to see white clouds of precipitate form when the acid was added (the precipitate would be DMT citrate) but no visible ppt formed. Now SWIM has separated the naptha and the citric acid sol't (which should also contain DMT citrate) and is evaporating the citric acid sol't. He then plans to add the evaporated residue to a sodium carbonate sol't (at ph 10-11) and extract with naptha then freeze-precipitate.

SWIM is wondering if he did something wrong in this procedure (and if he did everything why didn't a ppt form?) also (this is kind of off topic) if anybody else has experience working with P. Brachystachys and has any useful tips.

Thanks.

PS- SWIM knows of SWI Jorkest's success using FASA but SWIM doesn't have access to the necessary ingredients (namely fumaric acid) to do a FASA style extraction, would tartaric acid work?
