I didn't try alcohol until a few months ago. I, like you, witnessed my friends becoming fools and just acting stupid. It wasn't until now that I've seen how alcohol can be used properly. I still don't like it, but I have found a vast difference between the "party" drinking, and the "social" drinking. The partying (which I don't care for) is usually just get as drunk as possible while still being able shout nonsense. I hear about people who don't even remember the night before. I found a different group of friends now and I had an absolute blast from 2 beers and a shot. I still had the sharpness, but it was altered, more witty and outgoing. Not something I'd do every day though, maybe once a month.
Willpower is a powerful tool, often underestimated. I'll spare you my lecture about it, but it can help you achieve things you've never thought possible. The longer I live, the more hardships I undergo, the more I realize the truth in this. The problem is knowing how to direct it, or when to use it.
DMT is definitely gentle compared with salvia, imho. I like salvia just for the absolutely bizarre things it makes me come up with. DMT however, is more about the experience, thoughts, and feelings throughout the trip. To each his/her own I suppose.
Glad to hear you've taken the time to research DMT before trying it. I think it's vital step to being prepared for the journey. You sound like you've got your head on properly. I guess what I'm trying to say is, welcome!
