Your tek will work, but requires a some changes for it to work best.

Firstly, you should do 4 separate acid cooks on your bark, for an hour and a half each, as opposed to one cook for a half hour. You will get a lot more goodies this way. When each cook finishes, you should combine the soup in another pot and reduce down to about 1000mL total.

Also, you should definitely let your mixture cool down for more than 15 minutes before transferring to your extraction vessel and adding the lye. H2O + lye is an exothermic reaction, meaning it gives off heat. It would be very bad and dangerous if your extraction vessel got too hot and exploded everywhere. I would recommend waiting until the liquid is at room temperature before adding the lye.
