Hi all. I just recently joined. This was an album only 6 songs that took me 5 years to finish. It has a portishead/massive attack vibe to it. And as the creative process fell into place, it was the very process outlines in the heading. A process of transformation. Scotopic is a scientific term when one enters a dark room, the pupils dilate in order to receive more light. I find this to be a perfect spiritual analogy for life. Adapt to darnkess by being sensitive to light. Follow the light. We sometimes see ourselves like deformed tree's in a place with little light as the branches all twist themselves and contort to try and find the light. And we see this as defense mechanisms seeking light in dysfuncional ways. But we don't realise that the nature of these branches that seem twisted are more like the nature that all rivers have that all end up flowing to the ocean. If you look at a tree from a top down perspective.
But as i look back at it from a year ago, i feel the metamorphosis process the album was reflecting back at was happening still in the confines of the coccoon. And lot's of insights are to be had in these times when the wings are develloping under the right conditions to soar. I feel this was a great creative endeavor for me to tell my story in a really unique way.
And I couldn't think of a better place to share this than in a place like this. With fellow travellers. To anyone who may be interested.
