Age

I think we should be able to specify our age in our profiles.

I dunno if anyone will fill it out but I always like to really read and digest posts of older members, not that I think a post shouldn't be judged on its content rather than who wrote it but I've always respected older ppl and think that a post can be understood better if we know who its coming from.

for example if a person that lived through the 60s has something to say about the 60s revolution we might be more prone to listen .

I dunno about you guys but whenever I find out that someone is 50+ years old on this forum their posts take on a whole new light.

That is all .

:)

How many people will tell the truth?

I don't see the number being important. I have met younger people wiser than older people in my travels. Everyone is unique and in my opinion should not be confined to a number. This causes preconceptions about that person. Besides, I would put that I'm 69 years old in my profile ;)

Just my 2c

What's great about having a username and avatar is that we can anonymously communicate without giving our real identities. What is important here is the information we share, not the details about who we are IMO.

we can offer that all members over 50 are allowed to have their usernames in a very respectable grey font. :)

I like it.... I feel that older members should be acknowledged and looked up to as ppl with a lot of life experience.

I’m in the 50+ group, but I’m not so sure I’m in the “lots of life experience” group. :?

Many posters don't want to give identifying information. I would most don't even specify their gender.
I'm paranoid my OS and Browser are public! I'd probably add an age, but it would be false.

I wished I had of known how old both of you were earlier instead of finding out in a random post by chance.

a certain amount of respect is due to an older person IMO

swimfriend, your response to vovin in the 'i thought you were enlightened' thread is what prompted me to make this thread.

and gibran2 I appreciate your humbleness but to be fair someone my age has a lot to learn from someone like you and again I'm not saying younger members aren't wise but I know in my real life I have lots of friends of all age groups and there is defiantly more wisdom in my older friends and I take their opinions on important things more seriously. But thats just me.

experience doesn't necessarily mean that you've gone to south america to live with natives and all that sorta stuff, experience can mean how long you've had to think about something like dmt or anything philosophical.

I qualify like a few others around here.... I am at a prime: 53. I am not so sure about the deserving respect part though. I can be rude crude and socially unacceptable.

I was just raised old school to respect my elders automatically but maybe thats not as common as common as I thought it was.

I'm 30 and any senior person I know personally gets a certain amount of respect from me.....

is it wrong to respect elders any more than anyone else?

I dunno maybe it is in some way....... this is just how I've always done it.

This is the internet; everything everybody says about themselves is baloney (unless you judge that it isn't).

The only thing that needs to matter is the content of the post.
