Alkaloid content in various clones/cultivars/species and its relation to care

Migrated topic.

Rising Star

looking through this and all the information about potency (also seeing the claims in in d-limonene extract thread) of different clones and cultivars being vastly different in potency and and even the same plant varying from on e season to the next. This all makes perfect sense to me. I have plenty of experience gardening with vegetables, trees, succulents, shrubs that sort of thing. My friend X has plenty of experience growing recreational mary jane. and of course the first thing in thc content you look for is top shelf genetics. then is care of the plant! Not because it is any less important, but because these things are directly proportional. I saw one guy note it in another thread this way "the genetics tell the plant how much mescaline and alkaloids to produce, the enviroment lets it get there". This brings me to the point of this thread, for all you members out there growing pachanoi, peruvians, and bridgesii what plant do you grow, what type of light does it get, what is your soil and watering schedule and what are your yields?

The thing I noticed across all three species was that the majority of the most potent cacti were coming from peru. what that tells me is that we probably already have the right cultivars somewhere, they just aren't getting something in their care to make all the alkaloids they can. just like extra calcium, air circulation, air flow and certain other minerals can help boost thc production for marijuana, we have to find out what makes our cacti really happy so they can make us happier.

I know I'm new, but I'd love to have a discussion around care of these plants from people who have the experience with them. you can read a hundred books and do something decently. but if you want to perfect it you have to find someone who's mastered it and learn everything you can.
