Okay. for years swim put cacti on the back burner and towards the back of the list. But since a few months ago, swims interesst has risen.

The question is, having experienced only San Pedro, is swim missing anything by not exploring torch, achuma or the original cactus classic, peyote? (I doubt swim'll ever be lucky enough to find peyotl given geography, rarity, extinction status, etc) Are they all that different from one another? Or can swim say they've tried mescaline by just having had T.Pach?

Swim's aware of the multiple alks in each, just wanna know if sticking with T.Pach is sufficient...('cause swim LOVES it!)

No, yes and yes. Good Peruvian Torch are sometimes hard to find. Alot of what is sold as Torch is actually inactive. If you do find a good one, it isn't much different than Pachanoi.

Achuma (T. Bridgesii) on the other hand, contains some other 'actives' which may actually be MAOI's. Whatever they are, they make Achuma a different, IMO better, experience.

Peyote are actually closest to the mescaline experience. IMO the mescaline completely overpowers the other actives and peyote, pound-for-pound, are much more potent than other cacti. Peyote can be obtained fairly easily on the 'net, seeds are even easier ... Just SWIM's experience.
 
Not all alkaloids are extracted with common extractions.

Peyote is often weaker than San Pedro cacti in terms of mescaline content.
Peyote for the NAC averages around 1% and gets up to 2%, while San Pedro is known that is is 2-3%. (San Pedro is not a single species, but includes pachanoi, peruvianus and bridgesii, as well as others like scopulicolus and many others.)

The San Pedro complex is complex and varied in regard to chemistry. However peyote is far more complex, often containing over 250 chemicals, this is why it has a greater subjective potency and different effects than pure mescaline. Numerous psychonauts report that a couple peyote buttons combines well with San Pedro or mescaline and results in a more peyote like experience.

Many people speculate about bridgesii having MAOI, but in many cases the plants simply contain more mescaline than others.
