Fascinating stuff there, my brother from down under.  I think you will find a lot of people here who can relate to your experiences in spades.  Personally, I will be happy to read whatever the entities direct you to post here.

I take your comment about leeching to mean that you are actually using medical leeches?  Interesting if so.  They are too freaky for me to consider working with intentionally, though I did have a few buggers cling to me in certain jungles and it wasn't the end of the world.
