Anyone had DMT turn into this?

So I’m very new to the forums and might not even be posting in the right section, but I got some crystals a few years ago, in parchment paper and inside a plastic bag. I just opened it up to see it for the first time in like two years and it’s more of a waxy substance. I broke it open with a knife and you can see the lighter sides where they still want to behave like crystals. What should I do? I believe this to be dmt but I don’t know how to tell the difference between 5meo.

Yeah, that's oxidised a bit but it's mostly superficial. This is an unsurprising consequence of storing it in a baggie, I'd say.

You could clean it up with a re-x or a mini A/B if you want to. It may smoke just fine, but you ought to find out if it's plain DMT or 5-MeO first.

1, I’d imagine it’s normal dmt since it’s mostly coming from the red plant matter right? So, that would explain the color and maybe why it got a little waxy, sitting in a bag. I don’t know how to check for 5meo.

2, what’s a better way to store it? Left it inside the parchment inside baggie in a cool dark drawer. Figured it would be fine…
 
5meo is usually also red/orange colored and sometimes even waxy, but that's mainly because of impurities. But... if you bought it from the usual sources, its most likely just DMT. You can test it by vaping a very small amount, 1-2 mg. If its 5meo... you'll know it!
I'd suggest doing a re-x or a mini A/B and then storing it in a glass container.

Yeah I’m a bit clueless about some of these terms. Re-x and mini a/b.

Only time I’ve ever tried to ingest was with an old banger and boy did I do too much.
 
Re-x means recrystallization, you simply dissolve your substance in a suitable solvent and recrystallize it, one way would be to make a warm saturated solution and put it in the freezer. Mini A/B means redissolving your freebase substance in an acid solution, adding a suitable base to it, and extracting the freebase with a suitable solvent.
