Are Ciggerates psychoactive?

I rarely smoke..I recently smoked a couple with a week apart. The headspace definately was akin to the DMT headspace?

The headspace may be an effect of my meditations with the ciggerates pushing it further due to it's stimulant property and not to mention it's been like forever since I had one.

Both the times I smoked I had the same effect. I am not interested in pursuing this further by smoking more, but was wondering what could be going on here..

Nicotine and the byproducts that come from the burning of tobacco are known to cause intoxication, especially in people who rarely smoke. Some strains of tobacco, like Nicotiana rustica (a.k.a Mapacho) have extremely high concentrations of nicotine (9% compared to regular tobacco, called Nicotiana tabacum, that is used for store-bought cigarettes and contains betwee 1% and 3% nicotine) and induce an even stronger intoxication. What you experienced is nothing uncommon.

Nicotine itself is an amazing substance that has a long list of benefits for human health and cognition. However, as with all things in nature, it balances those out with one big drawback - when you consume nicotine, regardless of ROI, there's always an increase in blood pressure. Most people don't want that, and a certain subset of them should avoid it at all costs. If it didn't have that drawback, I would probably consume it in the form of patches or chewing gum, since I really hate smoking things.

I had a terrible fixation and addiction to cigarettes and then nicotine vaporizers for many many years that I'm finally free of. It can be extremely habit forming and is for sure psychoactive but not in a very useful way when you're hooked on an unhealthy amount of it. So yes.

It took tapering down a step at a time with nicotine patches to finally become free of it. I can never go back to using it because I go out of control with the amount of it I use.

Not everyone has my problem with overuse of it.

You'll notice effects even more if you snort some Hape! 🤣

A couple of weeks ago I saw a dear friend of mine I hadn't seen in a while and we climbed to a cool rock above the city with a nice view, and he pulled out a kuripe and some damn strong hape and I took what I initially considered a reasonably small dose. Suffice it to say I almost shat myself lol, was like a frontkick in the nose. Been a while since I last worked with this wonderful medicine. Beautiful stuff.

Initially, and I'm talking wayyy too young, I got insanely lightheaded and buzzed from the tobacco. Later in life it was just an addiction where I'd constantly want another smoke to avoid withdrawals.

I'm sure it can be a worthy medicine for users who can control themselves. I simply couldn't. It became that I'd be a nervous wreck if I went too long without the next smoke.

The problems with tobacco smoking are well known and the societal shift towards minimzing its use and the deaths and illnesses associated with chronic habitual use has been commendable.
I am happy to have ditched the habit for some years now, which was a byproduct of my rolling it with cannabis joints, which I am also happy to have ditched for many years and I see little benefit to.
That said, I can control it now so about once a month I like to go to my local Shisha bar and have good few hours smoking some nice flavoured tobacco through one of these. Its very strong and through an ice and water filter so smooth. There is a definite high since I am no longer regularly using and I believe they use a strong Turkish tobacco specially for this.

I think I know what you mean.
I vaped a 5%(50mg) disposable vape and was completely floored.
I really love tobacco(nicotine+all those other alkaloids) for grounding, which is probably why the shamans use hape.

I wish we could make Tobacco Tea ☺️

5%? 50mg/ml? OMG, my (rarely used) nicotine vapes are 1.5mg/ml or 3mg/ml tops :D. In Europe you can't get high concentrations anymore (restricted to under 20mg/ml, IIRC)

I'm a tobacco smoker. I wish I wasn't, but I am, and I don't see myself kicking out the habit soon. At my work, we ALL smoke. I managed to kick the habit for a while, but this environment proves it to be challenging. Cigarettes can be a great way out of stressful situations for a minute, they are a nice excuse to have a little break. But apart from that, I don't really see the point in using it everyday, and rarely smoke cigarettes outside of my work schedule.

On the question itself, nicotine is definitely psychoactive. I wouldn't comapare it to DMT headspace in any way shape or form, though. I guess the effects you got were indeed from meditation and not the nicotine itself. But the nicotine helps with focus and stimulation. It also can make you a little dizzy if not used to it, which can help with that as well.

I honestly like tobacco... but I wish I wasn't dependent on it. I like to smoke cannabis way more than I like smoking tobacco, and since I'm always mixing those two together, it's a bit tougher to quit only one of them.

I think it's 50mg/ml 🤔
It is Nic Salts so it doesn't exactly compare one to one with the 3mg/ml e-juice liquid.
I agree. The experience may not have been directly related to DMT - maybe since nicotine is also a stimulant like DMT and a clean one at that, combined with meditation the experiences may have seemed similar. Either way I think tobacco has it's high place in the spiritual world.
There's a difference in a person smoking tobacco ritually after meditation, perhaps around nature, compared to a casual smoke in a corporate building.
