I think it would be amazing to try ayuasca as it is the traditional method, but i don't think i have the resources to do that ...

I pretty much did the jungle tek to the tee (the updated one). My solvent of choice was methylbenzene instead of dimethylbenzen because it is more volatile.

what I did:

-boiled 500g MHRB with 30 grams citric acid for ~6.5 hours
-put in large glass jug with 250 ml 20 M NaOH solution
-put in about say 20 mls of toluene, rolled it around on the ground for about ten minutes, let it sit for another 10 minutes to let it completely separate, then drew it out with a serological pipette. I did this about five times, when the color was almost clear/colorless. I kept all the solvent on a pyrex dish
-stuck the pyrex dish on a hot plate cranked up to max with a fan blowing on it until the toluene was gone. I let it actually smoke a little bit, then took it off the hot plate to insure all, or most, of the toluene was burned away.
-then left it for another 24 hrs with a heat lamp over it and a fan blowing on it to rid it of all toluene.

what i was left with was a brown goop. i scraped it up into a pile with a razor blade, then with a glass stirring rod i just stirred the hell out of it, and it turned to a peanut butter like substance. it weight out to 10 grams

so are you saying I should wash it again with acetone, or try to further separate by recrystallization with hexanes or heptanes?
