Ayahuasca has called me.

I've vaporized DMT once but never done Ayahuasca. I wanted to wait until it "found me" in a way. Well, I recently moved in with my dad and his girlfriend and we're starting an ethnobotanical nursery business. My dad's girlfriend is super interested in psychedelics even though she's never done any. And she knows a lot about plant medicine and stuff. She's a botanist. And she told me that she has B. caapi seeds and a huge bag of Ayahuasca vine. So all I would need to do is order an admixture like chacruna or chaliponga. I wonder if this is the universe telling me that I should make Ayahuasca soon. I moved away from my drug addict brother, away from the big city, and my life has gotten so much more peaceful and healthy. I wonder if now is a good time.

I'm just kind of freaked out about potential health issues, as I'm on a psychotropic medication that is not wise to combine with MAOIs, but not as dangerous to combine as SSRIs. I wonder if I should go off my medication to take Ayahuasca, but the thing is I kind of need it. But I've been wondering about using plant medicines to control my symptoms instead of my injection. Kratom really helps me. It's an antipsychotic, and before you go on about how I shouldn't do Ayahuasca, I've had about a hundred psychedelic trips and I've always been fine, and my psychosis is in complete remission and has been for many years. I know myself well, and I have often found that psychedelics have given me more healing than an antipsychotic ever could.

Can anyone point me to more information on combining atypical antipsychotics with MAOIs? Should I go off of it for a while just to be safe? I read on a drug facts website that they can be combined but with caution. But I'm not sure I want to risk anything. What do you guys think about Ayahuasca calling me at this particular point in my life?

Can you please clarify- do you need the medication or don't you? You said that you "kind of need it", but then you also said that you have been in remission for years, and that psychedelic drugs have given you more healing than any antipsychotic ever could... Maybe more details about what your psychosis was?

Well, I am afraid of going off of it for fear of a relapse. But my psychotic symptoms have been gone for many years, and I have come to the conclusion that I will wean off of it with a doctor because I no longer need to be on these meds. I also am in a much better and much more stable point in my life. I believe my psychosis manifested from environmental trauma. My psychosis started in freshman year of high school, and it was characterized by an obsession with the occult and spirituality, which led to me feeling like I could see and hear spirits and communicate with them, which led to some destructive behaviors. I feel though that I should approach my psychosis and subsequent healing from a psychospiritual model rather than a biomedical model.

EDIT: Also, over the years, my "psychosis" and hallucinations have shifted from very negative (seeing demons, et cetera), to incorporating my own healthy Christian spirituality and serving me in a positive way, i.e. improving my life. For example, I believe I can talk to angels and I believe full-heartedly that an apparition of the Virgin Mary came to me twice to give me guidance. These things are beneficial to my life and do not negatively impact me. Any good psychiatrist will not classify this as disease because of the cultural socio-religious context and the fact that to be a disease it has to negatively impact your life.
