Greetings, fellow foragers in foldspace!

I trashed my first draft of this essay because it started to read like some kind of Match.com essay. Let's see if I can keep a bit more focused this time...

I've been doing this for a while. I'm not claiming that I'm more experienced than anyone, simply that my experiences have been spread out over two decades. The first time in, I was translated with the assistance of 5g cubensis with a syrian rue chaser, and I haven't really looked back since.

Yeah, I was a tiny bit influenced by McKenna's concept of heroic doses :) I have seen every venture into this sort of thing as an opportunity to test myself against my own psyche (and whatever else is being revealed to us in these psychedelic spaces). As a practitioner of Kuji-in and other forms of structured meditation, I've found that ego disintegration is a fantastic way to see if you really have gained any significant level of understanding or mastery.

I went through a several year period of similar mushroom type ventures, done maybe once every 3 or 4 months. I progressed to experiments with IM ketamine, and DPT (which for reasons I can't fully explain, remains my favorite...bummer that it seems to be MIA in my part of the world), a few experiments with San Pedro...and yet, in all that time, I never found myself in the company of DMT. Sometimes I feel like the only one :)

One problem is that I got intimidated in regards to home alchemy after blowing my eyebrows off in a poorly planned experiment. Ah, youth :D

I never really returned to anything more complex than 'grind in coffee grinder & boil' after that incident :) But that fear is now gone, and I believe the years have given me the wisdom and patience to avoid such unfortunate errors.

I really am strongly attracted to the 'space' of DMT (even though it's all theoretical, to me, at this point). It seems a very natural, and almost inevitable, progression of my travels so far -- and as indicated by the title of this post, this marks a return to this world after I had taken a bit of a break for a few years while focusing on un-enhanced consciousness expansion (meditation, breath work, and so forth). I hope my own life experiences (good, bad, & ugly) can add to this place, and I sincerely hope I'll be welcomed here!

Welcome aboard Elegua! :)

Theres a few members here who have been searching their inner space for a couple of decades and some even longer.Theres another subset who've explored, taken a break for whatever reason, then rejoined the fray once more.

With age comes wisdom and patience, 2 very useful attributes when it comes to following a tek and we have some cracking good teks at the Wiki which a little reading and patience will reward handsomely.

Once more, welcome!

Hi Elegua,

if this makes you feel better, some of us have cast fireball spells at mature ages. Since then, our arms will grow one foot longer when dealing with any flammable mixtures, but we still do it in the name of science.

Veterans are always welcome, and I'm always all ears for DPT reports. I haven't tried but for some reason it makes me specially curious.

Again, welcome to the Nexus.

lol good to know about the fireballs :) FWIW, I'm not an idiot, I just have a very unfortunate tendency to let a tiny bit of arrogance creep in, introducing thoughts that include, "Pfft, I think I can just skip this step."

As for DPT...wow, yeah, I'd love to discuss it with people & compare their notes. It's pretty much impossible to compare these sorts of mental states with anything, but the closest I can come is to refer people to St. Teresa of Avila. If you've seen images of her, or read her writings in regards to the concept of 'Rapture,' that probably comes closest to the overall experience.

Of special note is the fact that even though it feels like the true ecstatic 'Awe of God' (again, best metaphor I can come up with), you are still hesitant to casually repeat the experience, though it's hard to explain exactly why you're hesitant.

The fact that terms like "Awe," "Terror," "Glory," and "God-Fearing" are often interchangeable terms in the writings of Christian mysticism is also perfectly appropriate in regards to describing DPT.

Hello Elegua,

Welcome to the Nexus. Thanks for submitting an Intro Essay - I enjoyed reading it. :)

Great to see another (for lack of a better term) experienced middle aged member join the fray. More and more folks seem to be coming back to psychedelics after significant breaks to live, work, raise children, etc.

I had a good :) reading about your youthful folly. Reminded me of some male family members of mine, one of which is now missing a couple fingers. Buncha pyros in their youth, .

But, yes, I agree, with age comes, well not necessarily wisdom, but more a willingness to take the time to do things right. To read the directions three times slowly and carefully, to ask all questions before beginning, to never hesitate to reach out for help. You can post extraction questions on the forum or drop into chat to try to get some quick answers.

I suspect that if/when you choose to extract or brew at home that all will go well and that safety will be your first and primary focus.

Please take a good look around - this place is huge and packed with all kinds of resources. It's great for information addicts, 😁.

I hope to see you around and that you will become an active member here.

Again, welcome to the Nexus.
