bad extraction

Mix 5-15 mls of water, 1 gram of bark, and 1 gram of lye, or scale it up to the amount of mhrb you want to use. Mix the lye in the water, then mix the bark in the lye water, shake it all up and let it sit for an hour or two. Then add naphtha, shake it up, let the layers separate, then remove and keep the naphtha layer. Repeat with fresh naphtha 2-3 times, and combine all the naphtha portions, (optional: let the naphtha evaporate to half the amount), put them in a container with a lid, and put it in the freezer til your DMT crashes out (12-24 hours in a freezer that will freeze ice cream hard).. Then you quickly filter the crystals out of the naphtha, dump them on a plate or dish and put a fan on them until dry. Scrape em up and smoke em! Save the used naphtha for another extraction..

you can get much better STB teks here on this forum. I would not do it the way its shown on the video. 8 litres of naphtha ? come on thats way to much for 150g of MHRB.

I personally would never put crystals under a fan. Wait like 20 minutes and they are dry without a fan. I don't know why so many people need to rush! A fan would blow away your crystals! Plus if you scape them and there are traces of solvent, then it will turn to goop. Better to pour off solvent and stick back in the freezer uncovered for 20 min until dry.
 
so you guys are saying there is no need for acid. this does not sound safe. and where did the lye go?
and if you need lye would that would mean the dmt in the bark is acidified?

btw this is more about the chemistry than the extraction :)
 
The only problem I encounter without using a fan, is if there is any amount of naphtha left on the crystals, they begin to remelt back into the naphtha as it warms to room temperature, leaving a goo that takes a longer time to recrystallize, than it takes with a fan. I have never had DMT crystals blow away, but if you're worried about that, just leave the fan on low, and/or place a pair of panty hose over the dish to keep dust/hair out and the crystals in.
 
isn't the best way to recrystallize have dmt hcl in a glass of water filled with lye or backing powder. i am just taking this from the process making coke freebase.
 
No, DMT doesn't react the same.

It's easy to take your goo or dirty crystals, and heat them safely (hot water bath with no open flames, or professional hotplate and glassware) in a small amount of naphtha, or even better, heptane (brand name bestine online and in USA), then slowly let cool. If any goo begins to settle out, you can pour (decant) the clear, clean solvent from the top into a clean container, seal it, and freeze precipitate the crystals from that.

Then you could repeat it again on the goo to recover more clean DMT, or save the orange stuff until it gets hard, for making changa or smoking it as is. If you repeat the re-x on the orange stuff enough, you'll recover most of the pure DMT, with a few tries, but some of the stuff that doesn't form nice crystals is also active.

If no orange or yellow goo settles out as it warms, you can place it into the freezer as is and most likely get pretty white crystals once they all settle out again. You can repeat this as many times as you want to get the cleanest crystals possible, but you will likely lose some yield.

Other methods involve using other solvents, acids, and/or bases to clean it up, or depending on what form you want it in, and are often harder to learn for a beginner.
