Belated RIP to the Ayahuasca forums

What an incredible loss of quality information.

And it made me think. Hopefully others have thought of this ages ago, but is the Nexus backed up? It would be absolutely tragic if the same thing were to happen here.

That is quite a sad thing to hear. 😔

Backed up, encrypted, every day to an external server. 👍

Even more backup places are being installed in the near future. The only thing that keeps ringing in my head: who will replace me when I'm gone?

Kind regards,

@ms_manic_minxx hello, I think you became largely inactive even before I joined the forum, but it's nice to meet you! Warms my heart to see OG Pioneers return to the forum and renew their interaction with it.

And now on topic - which Ayahuasca forums are you referring to? For a moment I thought something happened to our Ayahuasca subforum and my heart skipped a beat

Yea, I noticed some time ago that the ayahuasca.com forums went from active, to less active, to not active, and now not even there to load up anymore. Seems like ayahuasca.com would be worthy of being brought back to life again.

That’s sad to hear. It was a great resource that normalized Ayahuasca home-brewing, and offered solid information about safely drinking Ayahuasca at home.

Also, great to see you on the forum, ms_manic_minxx! I remember that when you were last active on this forum you were dealing with some health concerns, and then you were away for a while, so I had wondered how you were doing.

I had a feeling Trav had this handled ages ago, but had to ask. I'm glad. This is such a precious resource. I direct every person I meet with entheogenic inquiries here. 😁

And thanks for the warm welcome back, everyone! I am doing enormously better, literally thanks to Ayahuasca and other herbal medicine systems. That eventually led to a career path involving botany and lots of access to academic resources, which is an amazing asset to have for Nexian style science experiments :alien:

I had the privilege of being involved with the cannabis industry in my state for a couple of years. The rate at which people are devising novel ways to ingest and enjoy cannabis is astounding, and I DON'T KNOW WHY more people aren't looking at what innovations have been made in regards to cannabis that can be made with other plants. Couldn't you theoretically use an ice water solventless rosin method to gather salvia's trichomes the same way and make budder? Lozenges are super easy to make and sublingual ROA is often underrated.

My absolute pipe dream would be to find a way to use AI with existing herbal medicine systems like Ayurveda and TCM as a rosetta stone, and restore other herbal medicine systems from around the world that were lost to colonization and/or the passage of time. Psychedelics, baneful plants, contraceptive plants, all the edgy plants and their associated lost knowledge, the whole planet is crawling with medicine and there's so much we aren't even aware of.

I want to secure all the medicine I need in my own back yard. I want to extract as much as I can at a food grade level. I want to find viable alternative sources of tryptamines that will grow outside of a tropical environment and can be extracted safely at home. So that is where the focus of my future contributions will be. I benefited enormously from other people's contributions here when I was younger.

And, coming full circle with thought vomit, I only knew about certain plants instrumental to my recovery because of the Ayahuasca forums. And now they no longer exist.
🤯

Cheers to all of us and our potion making, and cheers to Trav for hosting such an awesome space!

Just lemme know what I need to learn to run everything on the backend and I'll start getting versed.

One love

I'm an old member as well, and i'm realy glad to see you back here. It's realy great to know you've made it through that dark night. Power to you 💪

@ms_manic_minxx I am very involved with the ideas you are mentioning!! :) :) i've wanted to write about this on the Nexus before but it has just been about ten years yet since my projects have begun. As i am just one person there are many plants i haven't interacted with, but there are as you are saying so many overlooked ones that are at least as interesting as cannabis. The key of course is that they don't all switch us into an alternate trip, they might gently but significantly contribute to our natural day to day endogenous trips. :) :)

In terms of ROA i have loved exploring with dry plant material sublingually, and, also, recently learning about placing any safe plant material into small glass jars, with any type of partial covering under the jar lid, where it can be inhaled (the air within the jar which has blended with the plant material, by holding it up to your nose) and of course smelled!! It is like a form of herbarium that maintains the 3D structure and also preserves some of the plants' smells and thus molecules for a vast amount of time. And for hobbyists we can still eat and absorb any amount of these stored plants, whenever too!!

That's very sad, I was only searching it about 3 months ago, sad to think that will be my last visit after 15 years of visiting it. Thanks for the heads up minxx.

Dreamer's link to archive is handy for a huge amount of content, but unfortunately a lot of additional content was behind a login wall and so won't be archived.

I really enjoyed reading this, and couldn't agree more. Growing is incredibly rewarding.

This really makes me wonder just what the digital equivalent of carving something could ever be. It seems to be that any tradition of knowledge at risk of loss, no matter what form it's in - including the seemingly formless form of oral tradition. The phrase "diversity is strength" springs to mind.

I love this idea, as someone who has looked into traditional memory systems. While hard to carve as such one thing I could see is some kind of distributed archive system that like minded people could agree to backup and each hold a piece (each piece held by multiple people) kinda like a torrent. That way websites could be archived.

Funnily enough I tried using the archive.org version the other day and found it majorly lacking, you also cannot perform a search which really limits the efficiency of information collating.
