Best container to freeze precip in?

I've read spiced-t's tek and saw he used a milk jug to freeze precip the spice but SWIM would like to know if this will be sealed enough from making a freezer smell but if this is a worry would just evaping and then to sodium carbonate wash the spice and it'll be good as new? Don't want to lose a good batch but SWIM wants to make sure the containers sealed, doesn't smell, and is easy to retrieve hypothetical spice once freeze precip is finished w/o scraping up plastic pieces in it..>Swim's problem with a glass jar is also scraping out a big bottle would be difficult if xtals are attached to sides or deep in glass jar...Curious about recommended freeze precip jars & evap tray/bowl before SWIM tries experimenting.
 
peanut butter jars or naptha/solvent safe? never knew... I knew the gatorade funnel and milk jug plastic is solvent resistant but didn't know PB. Theres a metal baking pan that can be used but I read about the glass tray before...SWIM'll figure this out as time gets closer...

so the spice wont stick too much to the peanut butter jar? I'll just be able to scrape it off after filtering after straining, out the solids, reusing the old naptha and finish drying out the PB jar? sounds simple
 
I just use whatever glass jars I have handy. The spice sticks to the jar, no need to filter, just pour the solvent away and let the spice dry for a while, then scrape it off with a knife. Works every time.
 
found two tostitos glass salsa cans with/metal lid...this should work for smaller pulls I believe
 
thanks for all the help guys...the container SWIm found is glass and should hold probably at least 100cc so SWIM should be fine with freezing small pulls in there.I;ll clean it out and take exact liquid capacity tonight but so far all is well. just waiting on MHRB
 
SWIM gonna use the glass salsa jars because they seal and can't have the freezer smelling like naptha...the jar is big enough to hold i'd guess 100+ ml so it should be good since Swim'll be using smaller pulls being the first time...using 1/2 gallon milk jugs for the lye/mhrb/naptha mixture with spidced-ts gatorade separator funnel.Will post results and process when finished.
 
glass containers work well that can be sealed up. Some people use 1/2 pint canning jars, others use glass backing trays. Im not keen on using plastic containers as ive seen solvent react badly with certain cheap plastics.

I use 1/2 pint widemouth drinking glasses. I've found plastic lids that fit those very nicely. Pringles lids fit them perfect and so do some gravy granule container lids aswell.

Remember that you can evap your solvent down aswell, so if you can fit 100ml in it, evap it down and you can fit more. Evaporating yoiur solvent some can help with freeze precipitation, personaly ive never had a problem just throwing it in the freezer but the more saturated your solvent is the better.

As long as your container can be sealed and you can get easily to the bottom and it wont react with plastic, its good. Oh and that you wont be scraping bit of the container away while scraping the DMT is good to
 
Swim recieved MHRB today...plan on starting w/ 50g pull and using only 30ml of naptha per pull to keep it manageable and easy to freeze precip w/o evap.
 
currently evaping in glass jar. separation went well after SWIM had enough naptha in container to pour off mostly naptha. SWIMS anxiously awaiting results.

SWIM had frozen it but the jar didn't allow for retrieval of crystals so SWIM did another pull of naptha to dissolve em back up and this time froze em upside down as well as a 2nd jar w/ naptha...but the 2nd jar may not've crystallized if SWiM didn't evap it enough but he's hoping the 1/3rd pull jar has nice easily retrievable crystals

...also evaped a small naptha pull in a glass ashtray and am trying to finish drying out the yellow & white spots that have formed.

They still contain small amounts of spice (what couldn't be scraped out), though several months old and haven't been kept cold. If they must be cleaned before reuse what would be the best method to do so?

Normally I have 1-3 freeze precip bowls and I reuse them.
 
my current problem is the freeze jars SWIM's using are too deep and must be used upside down....problem is the metal lid may have a plastic coating on the inside SWIM could be scraping up when removing the final product
the current idea is putting a little fresh naptha in jar w/ un reachable freeze preciped dmt and dissolve it all up and then evap it in a glass open ashtray(to eeasy to spill & smell in freezer)

would this cause a problem or desirable solution? is it a problem to redissolve XTALS in naptha and then evap em down...since it was already freeze preciped 1st there shouldn't be the normal disadvantages with doing this right
?
 
Why not just use a glass bowl, and then cover that. or put that in a bigger bowl, and cover that one too. With a bowl, you don't have to be scraping the inside of a hard-to-reach-place.
