I think I remember reading a post on this site that was a good way to clean a pipe.

I'd like to know a really good, easy way to clean a pipe that can be done by soaking it in a solution that would best get rid of resin using basic, household chemicals.

i just asked this q. recently, and went on to soak it in salt and rubbing alchol. then I boiled it in water on the stove. I repeated the cycle a few times. then I used a bent q-tip, and some rolled up paper towels. clean pipe.

It was a pyrex spoon.

If using alcohol or acetone, just let the glass piece soak, fully immersed, over night & in the morning, running hot water from the kitchen sink through it will wash out any resin effortlessly!!

I love glass pipes because of this! Soak over night & you've got a brand new piece!!

I use Dr. Bronner’s soap. Get a bucket, fill with warm water, throw your pieces in there, and let them sit for about a half hour. Then I get a little scrubbing tool, or a rag, and everything washes right off.

In a pinch I've resorted to using mouth wash. Listerene is a bad choice because it leaves a smell, but pretty much everything else works fine, they just need a good rinsing afterwards. This combined with salt will clean any pipe if you don't feel like going anywhere.

I would never use acetone. Too nasty smelling! I just use Rubbing alcohol and salt. My buddy uses epsom salt because it's big and coarse, but most any kind of salt will do.

I've never had to soak using rubbing alcohol and salt. I cleaned my roomies bong in 20 mins and it was REALLY clogged up! Just use q-tips or pipe cleaners to scrape out all the tough stuff.

Seriously? SWIM finds that he can only smell acetone directly above it and the smell does not linger and it evaporates so quickly. The smell from IPA always seems to linger for SWIM, and it always seems to require water to wash it away. SWIM uses copper mesh, so he avoids the use of water as much as possible.
