Bonné - Birthday, Drugs and Realisations

Migrated topic.

Bonné

Who are you?
Greetings Nexians :)

I've been luring on the forum for over a half year, but seeing as I wasn't 18 years old, I wouldn't be allowed to be here in accordance with the rules :)
Luckily, it's my 18th birthday today.
I've never really been into birthdays nor do I really see the need for them. It is however one of the few annual times that you can be with friends around the table.

I've yet to come across DMT, sadly. 3 weeks ago, one of my friends told me he could get DMT from somebody he knew. I obviously became very excited at first, but he has some issues with lying, so it pretty much just keeps getting postponed, as with most of the drugs he says that he can get.
But I've sought to try DMT for over 2 years now and I'm really just waiting until the right time comes by. I've waited for 2 years already, so I don't feel like I'm any sort of hurry.

Apart from DMT, I've only tried few other drugs, but I've done a lot of research on all kinds of different drugs the past 2 years and often find myself to be helping people out with drug related questions.

I also feel like I've come to a new stage in my life.
I've been interested in meditation, conciousness, awakening etc. for quite some time, but deep down I never really felt that any of it was true, due to me being fairly sceptical about many things. But I gave it a chance some months ago and slowly started meditating and listening to Buddhist monks on Youtube. It was all quite hard to understand, but I tried.
Recently I discovered Osho, Mooji and Alan Watts, who I found to be much better teachers in almost all aspects. Now I really started to understand the various concepts people were talking about, and I've overall gained a lot of insight from them.
The best things about it though, is that it has improved my life greatly. This applies to many areas of my life, but it has especially helped me on my way through depressive behaviour. I've tried taking the thought processes that these gurus/teachers talk about, and it has certainly had a major impact on me, in a very positive way.

I could write a lot more, but do not plan on making a novel on my own life anytime soon :)
So I'll just end it here and with that hope that I can be considered part of the forum along with all of you wonderful people out there. :)

Welcome Bonne', and happy birthday! :)

I dunno if its feasible for you or not but extracting your own DMT is preferable to relying on someone of dubious veracity to provide it for you.All in all its a very rewarding process in many ways.Have a look at the Wiki for the relevant info, but I guess you've already taken a look at it.

Once more, welcome to the Nexus!

Thank you very much :)
I never expected my friend to actually succeed in acquiring DMT, and even so, I would probably have investigated it if he did. He did something similar 2 months ago, where he was supposed to get some MDMA, which supposedly wasn't an issue.
Later that chaotic evening, we were all snorting some citrus protein powder that I think he weighed up himself, because he couldn't get any MDMA.
It is quite typical of him, but I think it's important to give other people extra chances, especially seeing as it's something that's deeply rooted in him for some reason.

I expect to acquire DMT on my own when the time is right :)

Hello Bonné,

Welcome to the Nexus. Thanks for taking the time to write and submit that informative Introduction Essay - I felt I got a good sense of whom you may be.

I also got the sense that you will no doubt make a fine addition to the Nexus. I appreciate your curiosity but also your attitude and patience. All good things in their time. Oh and DMT is most definately worth waiting for.

I'm not a practicing Buddhist but I have found meditation to also be personally very helpful.

In case you have not seen it yet, I would strongly recommend the following movie - I really got a lot out of it: 10 Questions for the Dalai Lama (2006) ⭐ 7.4 | Documentary .

I've seen you in the chat and glad you decided to just dive right in. This is the way to go here - post, chat, comment, etc. And before you know it you will most likely be promoted. No big deal though, as I personally find some of the most interesting/hot posts to be in these Welcome areas on the forum.

So, take a good look around if you have not done so already - this place is HUGE and there's a lot of neat research, thinking, trip reports, etc. here.

Oh and by the way, Happy Birthday! My brother recently turned 40, which just goes to prove that March is a great month to have a baby. :D.

Again, a warm welcome to you.

Welcome to the Nexus Bonné!

May I ask when and how you became interested in mind-altering substances? It's one of my favorite questions to ask people I find out have an interest in them. Personally I became interested in them because of someone I met traveling who told me a bit about them. It wasn't what he said, nor how he said it, but it was the person in and of himself that made me interested: He was not the stereotypical drug-addict that our cultural consciousness has created as a false archetype. He was also not one of those lame weed-smokers who did nothing all day. He was a genuinely interesting and intelligent character and so after meeting him I began investigating.

Everyone always thinks it's peer-pressure or trying to be cool that makes people turn to "drugs". But I find with entheogens/psychedelics it's often not the case.

I also wanted to try DMT when I was your age. I had to wait about 8-10 years before I got the chance. It was worth every second.

good luck and happy investigations!

Thank you very much for the nice and warm welcome, Pandora :)
I'm not practicing buddhism either, but found the teachings of some monks to be valuable.

It's also been nice chatting with you :)

Honestly, I had never done any drugs prior to turning 16.
But the day I entered 10th grade, I decided to talk with another boy in my class, despite having a lot of trouble interacting with people in social situations.
We became friends right away and he introduced me to cannabis a week later.

I smoked a lot throughout 10th grade, but about 5 months into the school year, I started to read about other drugs. Psychedelics instantly got my attention, as I really liked the concept of altering your perceptions of the world, especially one's visual field.
What really got me into things however, was reports of people having spiritual experiences on these drugs. The fact that this was even possible, blew my mind.

I've since tried a few psychedelics, but they are pretty uncommon to come by around here.
But my interest in drugs is most likely thanks to my friend.
Strangely enough, we are actually best friends today.

And thanks you for your welcome, Enoon :)

Welcome and happy birthday!

Your story kinda reminds me of my own, not sure what on earth possessed me to start taking in as much as I could on Erowid at the age of 15, in the hopes I might stumble upon my blind date - mushrooms back then aka vegeterian biltong

But I'm sure glad it did!

I knew I'd reach this point. But I never knew. Hahaha who knows. I guess if you want something bad enough or its meant to be it will happen.

I used to be obsessed with something I had no experience with. And now I can say I know why I was deep down.

Good luck around here, I'm sure that profound day will come no matter what!

Much love
