Bufo castle

Migrated topic.
I got a kick out of the wikipedia description of bufo toads:

"
The Colorado River Toad is carnivorous, eating small rodents, insects, and small reptiles and other toad species; like many toads, they have a long, sticky tongue which aids them in catching prey. It lives in both desert and semi-arid areas throughout the range of its habitat. They are semi-aquatic and are often found in streams, near springs, and in canals and drainage ditches. They often make their home in rodent burrows and are nocturnal. They have a loud, piercing call, which sounds similar to an old woman falling down a well.
"

the bufo king will need a complete bufo court!

...I don't think I've ever heard an old woman falling down a well. It disturbs me that whoever wrote that has enough experience with old ladies falling down wells to compare it.

Some things have been happening that make this look more and more possible. :)

Wow, what an amazing idea! I hope you will share developments with us, perhaps some pictures when the time is here too. I think most 'pet toads' have far too little room to move around, so I hope you will be generous with the space. I know they really enjoy wet environment, just as any toad, so a small pond is a good idea, and perhaps also an air humidifier. Maybe they will enjoy to have a buddy or two, but if it's different sexes you might get more toads than you can have. It may also be that toads from the same sex are territorial and therefore might fight, although I really don't know this. I'm just throwing some thoughts out to you. Nevertheless, goods speed on this wonderful mission! :D

No air humidifier, these are desert toads. Not frogs and they do not like humidity. You wont be able tell the sex until they are at least 6 months old. And they will not fight each other. They will burrow and cuddle each other.

It would also be more appropriate to have a toad queen seeing the female chooses her mate and are the more aggressive towards other animals and seem to be more adventurous.

Wonderful, thanks! But I nevertheless think they should have a pond or similar if possible, as they do indeed love water - even if they're desert toads. They're not called Colorado River Toads for nothing! ;)

Well of course they need a warm water spot to bask and digest their food. They love to poop in fresh warm water. You will need a filter system and or be able to clean the area yourself once a day.

If you plan to mate them you will need a separate area to do that. You will need to simulate a heavy warn rain environment with a muddy puddle area for the toads to get it on.

Do you have other amphibians or exotic pets?
