This will be my first time preparing Cactus tea and was wondering if

1)Is it necessary to freeze the pieces before boiling.

2)Would using the core add any extra alkaloids or should it just be discarded?

3)If one has a weak stomach is there anything that can be taken to reduce the chances? Perhaps chewing ginger.

ive heard that the core contains the plants waste materials... as it was so wonderfully put, "your cactus cant take a crap..." (i have no real backup of this claim)

its been quite some time for me, but ive had some very powerful experiences with just the outer flesh...

when i make my other tea i like to use peppermint... is good for lessening nausea.

Freezing is just a trick to speed extraction, its optional. Traditionally there was no ice in the desert 😉
The highest concentration of alkaloids is in the green tissue. The underlying white tissue still has a significant amount. The woody core has almost none and essentially just adds loads of goo to the extraction.
In situations of great abundance people seem to only use the green tissue, in most situations both the green and white outer tissue are used, woody core is almost never used.
It could be saved for use as hair conditioner, or something.

Drying the extract and putting it in capsules some say make it better, but i think it just have to do with the fact that you don't get the awful taste in your mouth in the same degree.

1. not necessary, no, but it would help lyse the cells
2. yes it would add alks, but it could also be discarded (personal preference, from what i understand - some vehemently advocate using it, some the opposite)
3. ginger, cannabis, datura seeds (not many), papaya enzyme pills helped (ime) though i don't think they are marketed for nausea

Here is a method that was explained by someone else to someone like me:
Slice the cacti and then dice the slices up into little teeny pieces.
Freeze/thaw twice.
Then boil w/enough water to cover the pieces 1.5-2 hrs.
Strain into another pot w/cheesecloth.
Repeat this process 2 more times.
After the 3rd strain put the collecting pot on the stove and reduce down as much as you can. I've heard tell it's hard to burn.
Once you get it to a small amount--2-3 oz, put it in a cup, let it cool, and just do it. It's bad. But just do it and keep it down. If you keep it down right after drinking it, it is easy to keep down for another 40-60 min. It will tell you if and when it wants out.
The person who followed these instructions used a 2.5 lb/13" Pachanoi cutting. They had an amazing, beautiful, and quite spiritual experience.

I finished everything last night and let it cool in the refrigerator.

How long can it keep in there?

If I wanted to could I reduce the tea more after having stored it? I was left with about 6oz.
