Can DMT be converted to a legal molecule?

I'm not up on my chemistry, but when the law states that DMT and its analogues are illegal, does that eliminate the possibility of a home-conversion of DMT to a legal molecule that can later be converted back to DMT? e.g. some salt or oxide or other appropriate more chemically advanced version.

It would just help people stay within the law for as long as possible.

I don't know. There is the FASA method with turns DMT into salt form, which is more stable, but just as illegal I'm affraid.
The best strategy to not get caught would be building a little laboratory in a secret basement with a masterfully hidden entrance.
The room should not be in the original blueprints/buildingplans of the house. That's the only way to stay under the radar while
extracting alkaloids.

A rectangulair hole could be dug in the ground. The walls and floor of this gap could be lined with
the tarp used to make ponds in one's garden to make the room watertight.
A layer of stonewhool (or other thermal isolation material)could then be placed against the tarp walls and floor.
Then you build what is basically a large, rectangulair wooden box, that fits snugly when lowered into the gap.
Don't forget to build an entry/exit hatch in the roof of the wooden-structure.

After this is built, you could proceed to build a rectangulair shed ontop of it, just a bit larger than the
secret room underneath. And off course you make a secret hatch in the floor that lines up perfecty with
the hatch in the sealing of the secret room below.

It's quite the investment, but I cannot think of a safer way to go about this.

Where would the doomsday device be kept? Also I've thought of extracting in a Columbian-style makeshift cocaine lab that I would set up in the desolate hills of the remote island I live on where there is not another person for about 10 miles, of course it would not be cocaine I would be extracting.

It would just help people stay within the law for as long as possible.

If both n,n-dmt and bark is illegal in your country there is nothing that you couldn't do to make it legal I'm afraid.
The salt vs freebase doesn't change anything legally.

And you won't turn this into an analog, otherwise you'd synthing something which is not accepted here.
Just dig a deep hole in a secret forest location.
