Can DMT cancel out the effects of other chemicals?

Migrated topic.

Okay so 2 of the neighbours panda friends pandas relayed a very interesting story to me today, and while these pandas understand some science of cross tolerance, they still cannot find any cases or reports that match this incidence. I will retell this fictional tale as best I can. I am hoping someone could provide some scientific background as to why this may have happened, how it happened, and what was the major cause of this effect for the pandas.

Okay, so this happened over the course of around 3 days according to the pandas.
Day 1:
Panda 2 vapes some dmt, sub-breakthrough dose.
Panda 1 has no dmt.
So far so good.

Day 2:
Panda 1 & 2 both ingest 3g of weak dry Psilocybe subauruginosa (old shrooms with definite loss in potency, minimal effects were felt from the shrooms.)
Panda 1 ingests 160mg very clean MDMA crystals.
Panda 2 ingests no MDMA.
Panda 1 experiences great synergy from the combo. All good so far.
Panda 1 & 2 vape dmt, panda 1 has strong breakthrough experience, panda 2 does not breakthrough.

Day 3:
Panda 1 & 2 ingest 2 x 220ug dosed tabs of LSD each around 6pm (440ug lsd total each).
Panda 1 & 2 insufflate 70mg of MDMA each at around 10pm. Everything going well so far, fantastic synergy was reported by these pandas. MDMA was mainly stimulating the LSD supposedly.
Friend 1 & 2 both vape dmt around 11pm, this is where the anomally occurs. Panda 1
appeared to breakthrough, Panda 2 did not breakthrough. As the DMT effect tapered off, both Panda 1 & 2 report that they are no longer tripping... they cannot feel any effect from the strong LSD or the MDMA, both panda 1 & 2 went to sleep soon after the experience.

Now understandably the pandad were confused at the loss or inhibition of their trip. Can somebody please help explain what has occured here? I understand some of the science behind cross tolerance, but what exactly happened in this tale? I have never heard of DMT cancelling out the effects of LSD or MDMA before. Was it too many serotonergic chemicals working at once that the brain simply could not keep up with all the data? and essentially shut down like a computer running too many programs at once?

This is a mystery they would surely like solved so as to not repeat this as the LSD ended up being a waste for the pandas.

Is DMT known to cancel out the effects of other chemicals such as LSD?

Blessings!

If this is the wrong section to be posting this question please let me know. I figured this would be the most apropriate space. Thankyou and hope somebody is able to help!

I've edited the title in hopes of gaining more interest to this subject matter. Thankyou. Still eager for some clues! :)

Sounds like panda-monium! (rimshot) :surprised

Are they good panda friends or just bearly? (rimshot) :?:

Those two pandas got bamboozled! (rimshot) :want:

I know that for me, personally, mushrooms and LSD create cross tolerance. Also, I've noted that the past 4 times that I have tried to smoke DMT a day after a mushroom journey, I was denied a breakthrough experience even with a breakthrough dose measured out.

Of course, this is just one man's report.

I'm not sure if any of that helps but i should mention that I've never had DMT "cancel out the effects" of any other drug.

Taking mushrooms the day before LSD can def affect the LSD trip, so it might have been weaker to begin with. The LSD trip can also somehow prevent (at least for me) the DMT effects from fully displaying themselves, as if the LSD acts as some sort of anchor.

Also, it might have been that after smoking DMT, you come 'back' to the LSD experience which by comparison seems so mild (specially because it might have already been mild since you took mushrooms the day before), so it might seem like it's 'gone' but it's just a comparison.

I remember someone saying, after coming back from a DMT trip... "Im sober, back to earth.. I mean, the walls are still melting but compared to what I've just seen, Im sober" lol.

Maybe that at least partly explained what happened?

Either way I def recommend not taking psychedelics many days in a row, since you don't get as much out of the substances IME.

DMT, LSD, and psilocybin are all competitive agonists of the 5-HT2A receptor, and so while there's DMT rocking around your brain, a small percentage of available LSD will have access to the active site of the target receptor. Exactly what this means experientially I can't say.

I've read conflicting reports about DMT producing tolerance (some say tolerance spikes, and then returns to normal in an hour, some say there is no tolerance, some say it lasts longer, etc), but it could be possible that the after-effects of DMT include increased tolerance to serontonergic psychedelics. If so, if you smoked while tripping on psilocybin, you'd cause your tolerance to spike halfway through your trip, which could cut it short.

Just speculation

Blessings
