Can't breakthorugh... help :?)

Well foaf had very nice experiences smoking spice, even the best of his life, but he'd like to try the famous breakthrough thing.

But actually he can't... he uses the bulb vaporizer. Sometimes after the first or second hit (sometimes he still cough ) he starts having those phyloso-confusing and poetics thoughs if that stuff on the bulb is spice or residue, and where is the spice.

Foaf thinks he is having a lot of residue on its spice, but he though the appearence of his stuff was nice

You know, resuming he has a bad confusing feeling at the middle of the time that he should simply put the flame of the lighter... is there anyway of smoking something that is simply not spice? He doesn't know if is an ilusion, but sometimes the somke seems a little bit gray and more agressive. Wish he could take a pic of the bulb.

Smoking Method advises are also accepted.

P.S.: Tt seems better and easir when he uses a new bulb, can this be true? Is there anyway ow substance that wash the bulb from inside?

SWIM recommends using a normal glass bowl with some ash on the bottom and then some spice and then ash over it...

i have been reading lots of experiences of people using the lightbulb vape..and nobody has been getting breakthroughs...

you could also get a VaporGenie...once you get your technique of smoking it down..you can breakthrough every time

Uh, also his throat get fucked for some time almost every time he smokes spice, is it normal?

what you may want to do is recrystallize...take your spice...and put it in some warm Naphtha or Hexane or Heptane..and swirl it around..you will see a small yellow puddle at the bottom and that is all the impurities..so once you do it for awhile...(swirling) pour off your naptha leaving behind the yellow puddle and then put it in a jar that is easy to scrape..and make sure its closed..then throw it in the freezer...you should see it cloud up in say 30 minutes..and you will have nice whitish crystals in about 2 hours..but leave it in there for at least 4-5 hours..then pour off the solvent quickly..and then CLOSE THE JAR AGAIN..because otherwise water will condense on the inside of the jar and it will take longer to dry out the crystals...

dont throw away your yellow stuff..because there is more dmt in there..

yes you can make smoke it out of anything

edit: i wouldnt use a can though...use aluminum foil...because cans sometimes have a plastic residue on the inside..

He'll try that... unfortunately he has some money problems (brazilian unemployed man), he'll try to make the home mande bong and if i get satisfied he don't recrystallize

But if not he'll make it with the petroleum ether he'd use for the last batch...

Also, won't the water of the bong solidify the spice?

Only a very, very, very little bit. The same thing happens with any smoking implament, that's why there is always some residue build up.

Bong is the best way to get big hits and breakthroughs.

SWIM is relativley new to all of this and so thought it would be a good idea to buy a vapourising pipe. The Eagle bill vapouriser to be precise. With this it seenmed he couldnt get a high enough dose. So then he decided to make a lightbulb vaporiser. Again, only similar effects as described above.
He decided that things with big bowls, like lightbulbs arent ideal, coz when the liquid heats up, it creeps up the side of the bowl and you dont vaporise it all and hence only get threshold effects. Plus you waste alot of spice as it seems to generally recrystalise on the inside of the bowl/bulb
So SWIM thought, hed make a good old fashioned bong, out of a small plastic bottle and a pen as the mouth piece. Put foil on the openeing. He used cigarette ash as the carrying medium and did a ash, spice, ash sandwhich. (the ash really helps with takin that horrible taste away too). With this method there is nowhere for the liquid to creep.

Using this he was able to get far stronger results with one hit. He hasnt broken through yet, but has been as close as you can get and knows he is very close. TBH i think he subconsciously holds himself back as hes scared of the unkown! But like someone on in one of these threads said, a strong dose where you dont break through can be scarier that breaking through, so next time hes just gonna let it rip : )
Anyways, good luck with your technique. If you have no luck, i strongly recomend you just fashion a simple bong like SWIM did. Its cheap and effective


PS SWIM doesnt use water in the bong and its fine. I would post a pic of it but i cant figure out how you add pics to your posts!!

But seriously, for thise who dont like the tase, ash works like a charm.

BTW Jorkest, how was SWIYs experience with the extraction from Phalaris brachystachys? Anymore crash landings?

well when he went to freebase it...he thinks he didnt allow it enough time to fully work because he got only a tiny little bit...so he is going to try freebasing again..and is also working on further extraction

edit: and no..hes decided to take a few days break from any spice intake..they really do start to get pissed if you keep going back...

Ahhhhhh, so maybe thats why when SWIM used a lightbulb and the eagle bill, it tasted like shit. I was prolly burning it.

Its interesting that you say they get pissed off if you keep goin back. Imagine what it must be like from their POV. To keep seeing spaced out humans appearing in their reality must be akin to being haunted by ghosts over here. You dont want them to excerise you right haha

swim couldnt find any vaporgenies in his area, and was too impatient to order one.

Instead, he got a glass stem, with bowl attachment, and some copper wire mesh (aquired at headshop). He burned the copper with direct flame to cook off impurities, then washed it with water and dried.

The bowl was half filled with copper mesh- and the airway was tested: airflow should be MILDLY impeded by the wire- creating a bit of drag. So swim played around a bit with the copper to make adjustments and definatly did not pack it in tight.

To that, a desired bit was eyeballed and sprikled atop the copper.

Next, a lighter was used along the outside of the bowl to heat things up just enough to melt the spice onto the copper.




Smoking is a bit tricky, but a fairly easy skill to learn. Number one rule- do NOT directly touch spice with flame.

What swim does is: holding stem so bowl is parallel to floor/ 90 degrees from normal upfacing position- (dont allow bowl to face any further down or copper+spice may fall out), he begins drawing ever so lightly (it gets almost uncomfortable) and quickly hits the copper directly to start things out (only time this is done). Then, he takes the flame directly under the bowl and torches the side of the bowl (remember, it is at 90 degree angle and parallel to the floor).

The flame is constantly moving, never resting on one spot.

From here, it is important to watch the smoke in the stem. This tells swiy how hard to pull. Little smoke= lighter pull. Thick smoke, swiy can pull a bit harder.

Once thick smoke begins to appear, remember that this is all about getting the copper inside to a proper temp. Thick smoke means things are perfect. As such, swiy should begin to move the flame further and further away from the glass in an effort to retain constant temp. Also, the spice runs from heat- so keep an eye on the neck where the bowl meets the stem. If oil runs into the stem, swiy can rapidly heat the glass there in order to vaporize the spice wherever it moves. Once again remembering the fact that the glass holds heat, and once at a proper temp, one needs to take into consideration where one puts the flame.

Swim used to smoke isolated nnDMT, and used a straight glass stem with no copper mesh. Itd sometimes take him 3 hits to breakthrough. Swim now dreams of junglespice mix (everything pulled from toluene with no cleaning steps minus a few carbonate washes)- with the copper mesh added, he can predictably get a breakthrough on one hit.


Though the vaporgenie sounded like a good alternative, swim kinda likes the interactive skill involved with watching whats going on. Since swim has paid extracareful attention to vaporizing rather then just smoking (he is now paying attention to temp)- he has noticed VERY little taste, and things are MUCH gentler on his lungs. Better hits, healthier, saves spice... good all the way around.

My friend use a good old light bulb and have no problem to reach a breakthrought if he wishes to. With clean spice or 'reused' one (dark stuff).
It's more a matter of smoking technic and flow rate of air than a matter of smoking device in his opinion.
But it is not easy for him to find the good words to explain the 'technic'.
It's a balance between heating and inhaling. Too much of both and the smoke will be too dense, will hurt the throat before entering the lungs, causing a 'blocking' reflex, or coughing. Too few and the ratio smoke/air is not enough dense, making breakthrought impossible.
It's important to open the bottom jaw which will open the throat while controling the inhalation. Like when you say 'waaaaaa' to show your throat to a doctor but of course whith mouth closed and inhaling at the same time THat way the smoke has less obstacle and reach the lungs faster. But the inhalation must be slow enough. The air flow rate is also controlled by the air hole size in the smoking device.

Another 'trick' : avoid filling completly you lungs or there is a risk that when you 'close' you throat to keep the smoke in the lungs, there is too much smoke at the throat level and it may really burns. Of course clsoing the mouth is enough to prevent the smoke getting out but the throat closing can be a reflex.
Inhale 90% (roughly ) of your air capacity. Close the throat and finish inhaling thru the nose. This helps avoiding gasping for air and this push the smoke further in the lungs. It would be surprising to not breakthrough that way

ABSOLUTELY! after you inhale that little bit of air..it helps to swallow..it closes the flap to your lungs..but make sure you dont swallow any dmt vapor..it will make you puke..believe SWIM
