Cerimonial: traditional vs custom

Migrated topic.

Besides obvious premises (competence, experience, goodwill & sensibility of whoever is coordinating), I would be interested to hear some of your thoughts&opinions regarding vine rituals. Specifically: if you consider more tradition always better or if you think traditional forms to be a base which can/should be evolved/adapted.

Maybe I try to expand on this tomorrow, as I think its an interesting discussion, but just as a first feedback:

I've participated in different kinds of ayahuasca ceremonies (santo daime and similar, as well as indigenous), and also the more psychonautic self-experimentation ones. The thing is, as you are probably well aware, that all the different variables will greatly alter the experience, so it becomes hard to compare them accurately. I've had some of the most transformative experiences of my life with indigenous rituals, but I also did have life-changing experiences by myself in my room. I think both have their own place and one doesnt substitute the other.

I think for those that never tried a 'traditional' ceremony and have the opportunity, go for it and see what its like :) Being in a dense tropical forest with a competent caring shaman singing amazing icaros that turn into the ecstatic visions is an unforgetable experience! But I definitely do not agree with any elitism or 'monopoly' over what is the best or right experience, each one will have their path ("there are as many ways to god as there are created souls"). As long as its done with respect and serves for improving one's health and for self-development, it's all good :)
