Changa feels weird

Esteemed member
Full disclosure: I've just started experiencing DMT and I'm definitely very far from starting to extract my own stuff.

So having heard some great things about changa - I've got a trial batch from the same source i'm getting my freebase from.

Although my initial tests felt pretty good - I'm starting to have some doubts about the quality of that particular changa after a few heavier doses.
For one thing - changa is giving me very dark vibes vs freebase.
Secondly - it seems to be messing with my mind a lot more than freebase. Not in a good way - very negative thoughts. Took me a couple of days to clear my head after that last session.
Freebase - in comparaison - feels warm, fuzzy and I come out a lot more clear-minded.

Is it just me or there's definitely something? Residual solvants? Unknown composition?

Hey Windyshaman, the thing is, that with changa you're also messing with other compounds, the most obvious is harmalas, which also has it effects on its own, but also with the compounds / spirits of other plants, depending on what your changa is made of.
So, what you're describing doesn't sound weird to me, harmalas can add much more psychologic and teaching depth to the experience. Whereas DMT can sometimes look like a fun ride with lots of colourful mindbending visions, harmalas can add meaning to the experience annd bring to light difficult stuffs.
To me, this isn't a bad thing, that's what psychedelics do, they use images, sounds, feelings to make one work on its unresolved problems.

If you're willing to go deeper with changa, yo may find that at some point, something will unfold and bring insights on your personal life.
Otherwise, you can keep on experimenting with freebase until you feel safer in whatever realms this molecule brings you... though, DMT freebase can also potentially bring darker stuffs anyway.

I actually felt the opposite. The only time I smoked DMT without harmalas I got weird/alien vibes. It was a pleasant experience overall but I remember coming down feeling like my mind had just been messed with. On the other hand I've had many experiences with changa with various harmalas/DMT ratios and they have been positive. But maybe I can get what you mean.
Maybe I just see it differently from you, but changa has a deeper character (even if as you can see my experience with DMT by itself is very limited), almost like a "sacredness" feeling that sometimes is too much to handle. I had a breakdown after smoking changa everyday for a month, but I know people who do it with no problem.
So my advice is maybe try with very low doses or if you don't like the feeling stick to regular DMT. Trust your instinct

Thanks you for the input guys. I'm definitely having somewhat of an "ahhaaa!" moment... Will be a lot more mindful about opening that changa sachet going forward.
Approach it as the holiest of sacraments, because it is. Put some quiet time aside, make a simple ceremony, pray, and set a clear intention. See everything as part of the lesson, write it in a journal afterward, and decode just like a dream. This medicine speaks through metaphors.

Try to work with harmalas on their own and look into making your own extractions. That way, you don't need to doubt your material and can concentrate on the psychological side of it. Darkness is very good in these spaces. Usually it's your own baggage that was swept under the carpet. Look straight at it and it'll show you what's what. All the best.

Both can get real after a while, but changa is kind of its own thing. There's much more to navigate coming from the subtlety of the harmalas. They're a bit of a paradox. Subtle but powerful. Like @northape suggested, build a relationship with harmalas too.

There's a bit moar work to do with changa vs the unrelenting speed of just DMT.

One love
