Changa is the preferred method for wading into hyperspace.  Unlike freebase, you can take several tiny hits to work your way up to the threshold if you like and then either let it taper or hit it again to break through.  It's a very controllable way to partake, and since you know it's controllable, it helps immensely with your state of mind, which in turn helps immensely with the quality of the experience.
