Cleaning up DMT-fumarate

Migrated topic.

Had an excellent time doing a BLAB and got excellent results:d

After 2 acetone washes I had 11 grams of DMT-fumarate. After reading everything I could find on the nexus about such matters, I decided to do a final cleaning with water. I dissolved the 11 grams in 132 ml of water (this left virtually nothing; I assumed the acetone washes had gotten the excess fumaric acid already).

This was allowed to evaporate very slowly to encourage big crystal growth.

So here's the problem- no crystals! Actually all I have now is a puddle of dark amber goo. I can proably smear it around and get something waxy, but I really want DMT salt crystals for long term storage.

Can the goo be cleaned or purified somehow? The DMT-fumarate that I started with was dry and crumbly, but it seemed like it was a salt, so I'm not really sure what happened. The color was not very red either. Very odd.

Thanks for any help or advice!

So all I needed was a little patience!

amor_fati was absolutely correct. I ended up with 10.38 grams of well washed DMT-fumarate.

I am still a little surprised at how different it looks now, compared to before the water wash. Since I had already washed most of the excess fumaric acid away with acetone, it seemed like what I had at the end of the water wash process would be just about exactly what I had at the beginning.

The color was definitely more red/brown. It was yellow/brown before.

I also expected to see crystals forming in the water as it evaporated (because thats what the tek said), but there were none. Even at the end it was just a thickening puddle of goo.

The end result, however, is quite beautiful even with no crystals!:d It seems very stable, which was the goal.

Thanks for your advice amor-fati, much appreciated!
