Flying Dutchman
Rising Star
I would post in the Other World-views section, but I'm no full member and as such I thought I might as well write this here.
I just (literally 10 minutes ago at this point in writing) had a trip that gave me what I think might be an awesome insight, assuming none of you can find fault with it. It's written as if it's true for convenience but it's only speculation
Know the internal debate? What is it about again? Every time you blast off to space, before you break through, you know there is an internal debate going on but afterwards it's very hard to remember what it was about, perhaps it's because it's outcome is easily overshadowed by your break through? This time I saw quite clearly what was going on from start to finish (at least so I think), and I remember exactly what my instincts told me was happening. The debate is this: to be or not to be? If you answer this question with a no, you break through, because you die. DMT is a drug/chemical that kills you under exactly such conditions that you come out in another dimension. I know, please hear me out, this is only speculation. I remember reading on erowid a lecture by mckenna or perhaps shulgin talking about how he had a theory that during the come up all your neurons or something are reset, or have one of their qualities aligned by the DMT flooding your brain, and breakthrough occurs when enough DMT is present to do that to all the neurons. I don't know why he thinks so but it would fit into my speculation like a missing puzzle piece if it were true so I'm using it. You feel this happening and this is the source of the panic/terror you experience, the source of the certainty that you are going to die, because your ego/individual/person is based in your brain and like a hard disk, or at least somewhat similar, when all the bits are set to zero you are erased, only the spirit is left, an empty hard disk observed by pure consciousness. Mckenna wrote of having taken DMT to buddhist monks and they told him, "this is the furthest you can go into bardo (existence between death and rebirth)and still come back". So when you hold in that smoalk, and you've been told the longer you keep it in the stronger the trip will be, and you're noticing it's killing you, and you are debating with yourself, "am I going to go all the way? I can't be choking already, that takes minutes not seconds!", your body is telling you to breath out but your mind is telling you you'll automatically breath out as when you leave your body like you've read. But then suddenly the debate is shortcut as all the neurons are aligned in one mode. At this moment the final temporary outcome of that debate remains engraved in your neurons controlling breath, and if you said no you didn't exhale and as such will die of choking. You enter bardo and then exit in another dimension whose only difference with ours is that you had answered the question to exhale or not with yes, because in that dimension/possibility you had exhaled and as such are still alive. This is because the closest material world construct capable of containing a consciousness with exactly the same karma level/entropy/computational complexity as yours along the "hyperspatial" (quantum mechanical eigenstate?) axis of reality/possibility that centers around your decision to exhale or not is in fact your brain in that other dimension where you said yes, since your brains in both dimensions have the same value for the one quality of the neurons that was aligned. Don't know if I can follow myself, but anyway. Does anyone get what I mean? Would like some input. I thought of a lot more implications and stuff but I can't be bothered writing it all down.
