d-Limonene for Jungle Spice extraction?

Migrated topic.

got me a jug of STB soup that is pretty much exhausted....pulled almost 6 grams from 1 lb. MHRB!! yes...i am a little proud... :)

but i digress...

so, before i send this soup back to the earth- i was thinking about going for a jungle spice pull...i have three giant jugs of solvents in my lab: Naphtha, Xylene and d-Limonene...

normally i would use the Xylene for the J.S. pull, but i truly do NOT like this solvent...couldn't be more toxic to work with... :( however, this d-Limonene is purported to be most excellent for a powerful defat, and as such, wouldn't it also then work well for a J.S. pull? i was thinking about heating up 400ml, mixing it into my soup and letting it sit for a week...syphoning it off and putting it on a shelf in my garage for, well, as long as it takes...

any opinions/suggestions/pearls of wisdom?

much love and gratitude!!

yeah limo will pull other stuff out most likely... but, evaping it will leave too much residues, dont even know if it would be really smokable....
So the way to go after pulling the limo would be to salt it out with vinegar or FASW, evap that instead, and then make paste with sodium carbonate and pull with IPA or acetone and evap that instead

I would say next time (though you have spice that should last for a long time I guess hehe), do limo to begin with! and then recrystalize part of it with hexane/heptane/naphtha to get white crystals if you want, but then you are using way less petrochemicals, and its just nicer all around (though yeah maybe a bit more work, but its worth it)

What does it mean to 'salt it out'?

yeah lonewolf remember the solution was basic and limonene (or whatever non-polar solvent) had the dmt dissolved.. then if you mix that with acid water (sort of like doing a sodium carbonate wash, but instead with an acidic solution), the alkaloids will migrate to the polar layer, which is the acid water..

This is what SWIM prefers. Just get all the actives in fumarate form, then having the choice of converting to pure crystalline spice with heptane or doing a full range pull from the conversion with acetone.

jimjam spice is better than any crystal dmt

It is pretty nice. SWIM would have hard time determining which effects he necessarily likes the best, however, and though having hard crystal chunks of spice is incredibly appealing, the waxy stuff seems to be able to hold jungle and n-oxide spice in an incredibly manageable structure (waxy seems to be a good balance between oily and crystalline). Lately SWIM's been adding a bit of heptane to his acetone evaps, and this seems to result in a somewhat drier and harder wax--possibly because it helps keep water away from the precipitates as they form.
