hi ,
one of the seed grown specimens has this scar... no apparent creatures around.sorry for out of focus images...

yes, i agree- likely snails or slugs, they love fresh/young growth.

lots of good natural remedies for them, i like DE (diatomatious earth) for crawlers
 
Snails don't like to crawl over copper, btw. I bought some copper tape at the garden store, put a ring of it around 2x 5gal buckets, put a board across the buckets, then place any snail bate plants on the board. This gives the slimey buggers no path from the ground to those tender young succulents.
