DMT deterioration?

Migrated topic.

OK, I ran into some trouble today.

A friend of mine tried smoking 80mgs of DMT that I pulled a couple weeks ago that has just been sitting in a glass vile in my desk drawer. Afterwards he told me that it gave him a little bit of a body high but didn't really do anything visually. In disbelief, I tried it myself with 100mgs and barely felt anything (smoking out of a meth pipe).

Is there any reason that DMT would go bad? Is there a proper way to store DMT for extended periods of time? This particular batch of crystal is off-white/yellow, but I'm pretty sure we tried it a couple weeks ago and it worked 100% like it should. Any comments or theories are welcome.

Thanks,
Zip

Freebase DMT does not have a good shelf life, but that amount of loss in only a couple of weeks is unusual. It lasts a lot longer in an airtight container in the freezer, or if you convert it to DMT-fumrate.

I've never heard of spice degrading that quickly. I would bet it has more to do with the smoking tek than the spice. Even if 50% of it degraded into DMT N-Oxide you would still have a full blown experience with 100mgs.

Try the leaf bed method with that same spice @ 50mgs.

If that doesn't do it then your friend has the fastest degrading spice on the planet. I've had spice vial sitting out for 4 months without any noticable lack of potency. The best place to store it is in an amber vial in the freezer (or liquid nitrogen if you have access to it).

Leaf bed method produced the same results.

Currently recrystallizing what I have left of that batch to see if that helps :x

swim has a cup is his night stand that was used for recrystallizing. Probably 8 months old and uncovered. It looks very yellow, but i assume it is from the naptha evapping.

that is strange, could your scale be the cause of the error?

at some point id like to set up a long term time capsule which would consist of a blacked out vacuum desiccator stored at a few degrees above freezing to store various sensitive materials like my collection of antique wallet photos of alien babiess from 2012 which i lost underneath the tv only to find them today. Ive got to return them to their rightful owners but i dont know how they would react if they found them all faded and such as i have not met them as of yet. I just must be sure to return them after their respective childsren are born so i dont create a tear in the ozone layer and subsequently break time which really dosnt exist.
