Welcome Mark,

You seem to have the basics covered. I suggest freeze-precipitating your spice. On the volume/weight it’s difficult to tell without knowing what amounts you are using.

Also, since this is a written forum, take a bit of extra care with how you post and communicate.

Good luck.

You did this? Or you're planning to?

The main tip would be to include a defat on the acidic brews using shellite, before you go on to adding base.

After you've collected the pulls from the basic mixture, freeze precipitation will probably yield goo. You can put this through a mini A/B which should be self-explanatory from the name - dissolve goo in dilute acid, filter if necessary, add base and do pulls as before.

Goo is still useful, it just needs handling a bit differently, e.g. changa or enhanced leaf.

Better description here:
Defat/de-oil steps are compulsory with most native Australian acacia species ime. I found putting the initial pulls straight to acidic solution in another vessel, agitate and then pull the solution out from under the solvent, then base and continue from there, is a workable way to remove all the oils. Otherwise it's just a mess in the end, the product is suitable for tanning saddles.
