DMT fumarate becomes unworkable, sticky oil

Migrated topic.

swim prepared a batch of what he intended to be DMT fumarate, but made the mistake of letting it dry in the oven for much longer than planned. The result was a sticky, gooey, yellow mess. swim felt the only way to handle this mess was to dissolve it in some water. He now knows not what to do with this solution. How might swim work with what he's got here? And what is this stuff by the way?

Any help for swim to understand what this stuff is and what to do with it? He's thinking he'll attempt a freebase conversion using some sodium carb, but would like to hear some opinions as well.

It is possible that the dmt fumarate converted to dmt n-oxide fumarate, you should try to evap the water to make sure it didn't.

swim already tried that.. twice.. and discovered the sticky, unworkable mess he described above. swim doesn't want to go down that road again, it's just too painful. If it is indeed the dreaded oxide, is there any way out? Or is this project doomed for all time?!!

You didn't give many details... hard to put myself in your shoes.

Was this salting out of your extraction solvent? Or, were you converting some cleaned up(or dirty) freebase to fumarate?

If you start with full spectrum freebase (jim jammy/jungle bizness) you can get some gooey-ness for sure. Working it with a spatula or razor usually firms it up nice. It resembles super dried up peanut butter.

If you start with rextaled uber white freebase..and let the water evap slowly unheated... you should get pretty an end result that will scrape up to a non sticky powder. Maybe no pretty crystals, but freeflowing powder.

Me.... I like the peanut butter

swim salted the spice-fumarate from limonene, and then proceeded to evaporate the water for an excessive amount of time (accidental) in an oven at about 200 F. swim has encountered the fumarate before, but never found it to be this difficult to work with. This is some tough sticky stuff, no doubt about it.

swim hopes and preys for a better future.

Maybe mimosa contamination? You could try and wash with ice cold acetone/iso... maybe...

You could try dissolving a little bit in limo...whether it does or doesn't then you'll know for sure what you have and can proceed from there.

I'm not really the guy to ask or give opinions but that's what I would try.

IF it does turn out to be the Oxide then you could just make some changa.

Changa with fumarate oxide? Hm.. shouldn't a conversion to freebase take place first? In which case, can this stuff be treated like normal fumarate?

Sticky is OK. I have had several batches of fumarate turn in to that sticky, gooey stuff. Just keep working it over with a razor or spatula and it will firm up nicely. It will still be a little sticky at room temperature.

I started with beautiful, white fumarate from a BLAB. After washing twice with anhydrous acetone, I re-crystalized with water. This changed the non-sticky, white, fluffy fumarate into brownish/amber goo. All I did was dissolve it in distilled water and evaporate.

After spreading it out and scraping it up enough, it became clumps of waxy brownish stuff. No change in potency or effects though. I keep it in the freezer and convert it as needed.

Pokey

yea.. the Skull actually came to have that very epiphany just a few minutes ago, having remembered that fumarate is almost always at least a bit sticky when one starts the scraping. He's going to give it a shot.

See that's why I don't give opinions much. I misread something and thought you had tried to convert it to freebase already.
Anyway..the last batch of BLAB I saw was exactly the same incredibly sticky hard to scrape up stuff. with a wash, a re-x and some elbow grease it became managable.
Glad you figured it out. Also glad you didn't take my advice. I just like the challenge presented by other peoples problems sometimes.
