Terence McKenna - "30 years later we just make things illegal still without ever having our day in court".
I am torn to be honest. DMT purposely causes 3-10 min psychotic breaks, Aya 6-8 hours. While I think responsible adults should be able to make these decisions for themselves. This isn't like beer or weed.
People can damage themselves either with concepts or false thought or delusion that can go on long after the experience. I have heard dozens of "I am a prophet" stories from Aya over the years.
It leads to 3 paths for legalization:
1. Religious
2. Medical
3. Human Right
1. Religious - seems like the most likely path to win, however it always seems to maintain a "membership" rather than being able to practice how you believe when you believe. I really think this is the winnable path.
2. Medicinal - Though this is MDMA and Mushrooms, I do think this will pass, however it is still limiting too much for the "average joe".
3. Human Right - I understand Snozz's arguments that it is a human right and we need to stand on that, I think it leads to too many parallels to the average person. If we legalize all plants, heroine and cocaine come with it. Also, I am not sure everyone is prepared to have breakthroughs sold at a checkout line at a QT. Finally there is little leg to stand on legally here.. while it is the "right way" it seems that the path here would start with religious legalization as it has already happened for a couple of religions.
