Dmt legal status

Migrated topic.

Hey 👋I am very very confused as to why DMT is illegal in most countries. Why is that? If anything the drug could make a better world from the cast wisdom and beauty that comes with it. Why is it illegal substance 1 drug ??! That doesn’t make sense to me at all..

Not sure how we ended up with these irrational and damaging laws.

One possibility is that half a centrury ago when we classified marijuana as schedule I (against the advice of the experts at the time), society was affected by the law and propaganda. Institutions grew around the law and today society is damaged and disfunctional due to that gateway law turning into a devastating addiction that has taken society down a path of increased drug law abuse and damage.

Question is, how do we detox and kick the adiction to drug laws?

Terence McKenna - "30 years later we just make things illegal still without ever having our day in court".

I am torn to be honest. DMT purposely causes 3-10 min psychotic breaks, Aya 6-8 hours. While I think responsible adults should be able to make these decisions for themselves. This isn't like beer or weed.

People can damage themselves either with concepts or false thought or delusion that can go on long after the experience. I have heard dozens of "I am a prophet" stories from Aya over the years.

It leads to 3 paths for legalization:
1. Religious
2. Medical
3. Human Right

1. Religious - seems like the most likely path to win, however it always seems to maintain a "membership" rather than being able to practice how you believe when you believe. I really think this is the winnable path.

2. Medicinal - Though this is MDMA and Mushrooms, I do think this will pass, however it is still limiting too much for the "average joe".

3. Human Right - I understand Snozz's arguments that it is a human right and we need to stand on that, I think it leads to too many parallels to the average person. If we legalize all plants, heroine and cocaine come with it. Also, I am not sure everyone is prepared to have breakthroughs sold at a checkout line at a QT. Finally there is little leg to stand on legally here.. while it is the "right way" it seems that the path here would start with religious legalization as it has already happened for a couple of religions.

I feel like the government has a agenda in place and whatever goes against that is a threat. Psychedelics open the brain and expand imagination and concepts such as love, compassion, etc. what if the government does not want you seeing hyperspace and this other world ? Just because it goes against the modern political values?

What do we do with all the people that have made lives and careers out of these laws? We can talk about religion/science/human-rights until we are blue in the face, but I think we also need to address societies addiction to drug laws. These people need to be offered and alternative, a plan, so they can adapt to a free society that does not wage war on itself.

Look at this example from just this week. A little extreme, but take this down a few notches and multiply it my hundreds of thousands of people in positions of power. Good luck with the human liberty argument my friends.

Afrar, I don't think it is a planned conspiracy to control people. Maybe Nixon did a little of that to get the ball rolling (he did not want to control, just wanted to find ways to disrupt hippie and black communities). It is a lot simpler than that. It is entrenched social institutions that have organically grown over the last 50 years around these addictive laws. Not planned, just happens. Similar to a junkie getting addicted to heroine as the drug changes her from the inside and her body adapts to it. Society adapted and grew around these laws for 50 years. Now society is addicted to drug laws. All this is just my opinion, I could be wrong.

We live in amphetamine-high-electric-coke&candy world, that's why. This ain't fuzzy-weirdo-psychich-wonder-alien-subliminaity-awakening-the-spiritual-and-see-a-bllion-world-come-crushing-in-a-sea-of-awe-inspiring-oblivion

On one hand you have a society that is built on addictive patterns, that doesn't want to reduce its consuming even though it is destroying its familly (what we have come to call:envrionnement) and on the other substances that have an ability to shift existing patterns and have shown evident benefits in reducing addiction, that peoduce life changing experience and imbue life with a new form of meaning.

The agenda may nit always be conscious but it is there.

I guess society is like a river. You can try to make it go one way but ends up finding it's own path with a lot of things influencing it. Once it finds a path it kind of likes to stick with it for a while and digs into it by erosion.

From one person going to military school to another person taking magic mushrooms in nature. It all adds up to a current. Where we go or end up, Who knows?
