DMT vs Dreams - What are the similarities (if any)?

Migrated topic.

I decided to make this post after watching several videos on YouTube where DMT users said their experiences were 'more real than real' OR 'like dreams only better' which seems completely contradictory to me?

So which is it for you?

Personally I almost always know when I am dreaming except when I have nightmares, which is basically never

For me dreams are different from a DMT experience. You cannot compare them at all. Dreams versus DMT is like water versus brandy. But don’t get me wrong, I love water too :).

But far more interesting is the fact that since I smoke salvia plain leaf my dreams have become more intense, deeper and more odd. I just ‘feel’ that the salvia has done something in my brain that activates my dream activity.

Depends on what your definition of "real" is. My dreams are very lifelike and can easily pass as my current reality sometimes. DMT trips on the other hand conjure up experiences that not even my wildest imagination could create, but at the same time it can feel like that brief moment has become my new reality and I forget what "real" really is anymore.

Do you consider your current day to day reality to be real? Or is the absence of awareness for other realities in that moment make the one you are experiencing real?

Those two things are different from my point of view. My dreams(for the ones i can remember at least) include "real life" elements, at least in a sense that even though they have no logical sense whatsoever, i can easily relate to them with my everydays life experiences and thus have tools of comparison to describe them.
DMT on the other hand is on a totally different level. Up to this day, there is no book that i have read, no pictures ,videos or drawings that i've seen, not even anything that i can picture in my own mind can pretend to come close to the DMT experience.

And reality is debatble indeed, as anything you experience in your life, you experience through your biased human senses. Colours for instance, are just wavelenghts that our brains interpret through our eyes as colors. And nothing in the world(yet) can prove that the thing we call "green" is interpreted by your brain the same way mine does
