Do you think the "Ayahuasca Afterglow" is a result of ongoing neurogenesis?

I think the general consensus is that the afterglow after ingesting Ayahuasca or an Ayahuasca analog lasts from 4 to 6 weeks. Just wondering if anyone more medically savvy than me has any insight into if this might be the result of prolonged neurogenesis.

I know there have been studies done showing that neurogenesis occurs when brain cells are submerged in a solution containing harmine, harmaline and THH, but this probably doesn't represent conditions in the brain after a trip.

Maybe these compounds linger in the brain tissue for about this duration?

From a scientific standpoint, perhaps because your vagus nerve and other positive brain states have been so strongly activated I'd say, relaxing your entire body, mind, and spirit at the neurological level. As fired, so also would the brain of course strengthen ~ and or fatigue perhaps with later mis/dis-use.

From an emotional and spiritual standpoint... well :)

Hi there, I would recommend two articles, one on the state of the art, really great work and has allot of good references to explore.

And specifically on your question the paper from Morales-Garcia et al (2020) this is a really good match.

Let me know if you have any remarks on this, and I’ll try my best to help you out.
