Do you think what you see is God?

First of all I apologize, if this is not the right section or if this has already been discussed.

I actually wanted this to be a poll, without much discussion, just wanted to see the percentage, but I can't seem to find how to create a poll.

So please let your reply start with Yes, No or Don't Know.

I've smoked DMT three times and each time has had a very, very strong absolute feel to it - absolute in the sense that it is so powerful that it has to be coming from a higher power.

So the question is: do you believe you see God's perspective or encounter God? And of course, by God I don't mean the Christian God or any being. You can substitute it with Nature, Source, Energy, the Fabric of the Universe, Unity, the World Spirit, even Jung's Collective Unconscious. By God I mean any idea that suggests that you see something greater than yourself which envelops you, and not that some substance has scrambled your brain so much that you can't say your name.

I think there is a chance to meet God in many situations in life, some are more consistent than others, it can be sex, meditation, yoga, fasting, sensory depravation or psychedelics. I've smoked n,n-DMT and didn't have the religious experience but it was very visually pleasing and reality-distorting.
The thing is, when you're in the place that goes beyond description outside of time and your face to face with the divine essence of the universe there is no second-guessing or questioning. It's not if I think what I saw is God, I know it was God, or the idea of "God" that's been discussed by indigenous cultures and religious theories through-out history.
If there's any question about the matter than no, what you saw was not God.

That's not exactly a yes, no/don't know question, but I'll answer yes, but for every part of life, not just while I'm on DMT.

I don't like the word God. It carries WAY to much baggage for most people to be of any use in this description.

But yes, I certainly do believe that on a hand ful of times I have been graced witha trut gift of the divine. When you feel your consciousness extned to the edges of infinity and you can simulateously see galaxies countrless light years away all the while very the vibration of every atom in you body. I once came out of the light on the other side of the room literally sitting on my knees head to the ground with teats running down my eyes...completely and utter devotion for that which I could describe.

So if you are ok calling it God then I am to. Yes I have seen God...and he/she/it rocks. 8)

I agree with Ewok. I definitely feel powers greater than myself but I think of God as the Creator of the Universe and I don't think it is possible to conceptualize that on any level. I feel like the beings I interact with are all a creation of God as well and that God's power and depth go way beyond anything I can ever see in hyperspace, Navigating through hyperspace makes me able to feel closer to my creator in my day to day life.

since you have switched it up a little bit i will agree that the experence feels to me like a journey into the devine, whatever that is.

Sometimes (twice for me) there is direct contact with "God" but i think that even when there is no contact with "God" the experience is still in the devine realm.

i have definitely had my view point changed from realist/materialism to "something else" but what i have been pondering lately is how so many of us seem to have been effected in as similar way.

Your statement above illustrates my point, if these things happened to me when i was sober then thats 1 thing, but to say that under the influence i saw something and i am now a convert/believer without any acknowledgement that its all just a trip seems crazy.

I spoke to some straight people who simply laugh and say its rediculous to base your beliefs on what happpens to you while under the influence of the most powerfull psychedelic around and on 1 level i agree with them.

On another level, i do not.

I believe god to be a pure vibration a pure tone energy and i believe DMT to be a tuning fork which raises ones conscious to that of gods vibration, infinity.

I believe DMT to be a way to sense as god does, i have been told this by the DMT in entity form, that it 'DMT' is here on earth for man in his life.

i suppose i believe everything is partly god.

Actually... an atheistic friend of mine tried DMT. His trip was pretty indicative. He said two things:
1. I don't remember anything. Nothing happened.
2. OK, maybe just a really vague feeling that I know this and I've been here before.

I think that he's just not ready. What he saw was so overwhelming that he just switched it off.

I think that he's just not ready. What he saw was so overwhelming that he just switched it off.

Could be many things. First of all it could be that he didn't manage to take the dose properly(usual for newbs), so if he is interested to try it I would make sure he can try several doses, even higher ones in case he doesn't know how to take it properly(best way is to take it all in single long inhalation and keep it in the lungs for at least 8 seconds).
I don't think being atheist has anything to do with it.

And in case he blacked out it's not unusual(hasn't happened to me though) so maybe if he's interested give him another try.

There are quite a few Nexians that remain very skeptical and antheistic.... I myself remain very scientific with regards to it all. In fact I'd say I'm mystical because of science and not inspite of it. The more detail science uncovers about the Universe the greater Awe I feel towards it all. Science rocks :d

At the end of the day though I think anyone that has tried DMT and is honest with themselves has to arrive at the conclusion that we just don't know. I agree with others in the thread in that I don't know that it's God so much as just my tiny wave of consciousness temporarily reemerging with the Ocean of pure awareness or what. I do know that these experiences have profoundly changed my life, but I don't have a firm nail to hang my hat on.

I only have my VERY limited perception to go by. To me it feels larger than life, but I certainly concede that it could just be the next teir up the evolutionary ladder of consciousness. But then who knows how far down the cosmic evolutionary ladder we humans really are. We may be King of this ant pile called earth, but perhaps we are nothing more than single celled protozoans to God like beings?

I just try to be humble to the fact that I am a random collection of matter in the universe that appears to have free will, self awareness, and the ability to realize just how profound it all is. Psychedelics greatly help maintain that state of awe.

So if there is a creator. Thank you.
