If someone were to find some really old lye (Gillette...no kidding), would it still be useful for extractions?
 
Depends...You'll be able to tell by looking at your product. As long as it has not been exposed to air or water and is still granulated (instead of a huge chunk or slimy residue) you'll be able to use it.
