while looking for pool supplies, swim came across sodium carbonate...

he knows sodium bicarb needs to be cooked to dehydrate and turn it into sodium carbonate- does storebought sodium carbonate need to be cooked?

is it hydroscopic?

you also loose carbon when you cook sodium bicarb. not just water. hence it not being reversed by addition of water.

Does this mean that when we convert baking soda to sodium bicarbonate and see bubbles coming off, those bubbles are carbon dioxide and steam?
2NaHCO3(s) -> Na2CO3(s) + CO2(g) + H2O(g)
^like that?
