Q21Q21 STB (Straight To Base / No Acid - AKA No Distilled White Vinegar or Lye will Be Used)
Don't need to pH Test for Q21Q21 Tek - It is Inherently within pH levels by Design
=========================================================================================================================
1. Freeze/Thaw (3-5X Cycles) ---> Rupture Cell Walls / Loosen up Bark Fibers / Prepares Bark for Better Lime Penetration
Put 1Lb of Shredded Bark Split Evenly into Two 1-Gallon Zip-Lock Freezer Bags
Optional: You can Toss the Bark in to a Blender for Finer Powder (Less Freeze/Thaw Required)
3 Cycles for Powdered Bark / 5 Cycles for Shredded Bark
Add Room Temp Distilled Water to each Bag (2:1 - Water : Bark)
900ml for 1Lb of Shredded Bark (or Powdered)
Just Enough Water to Cover the Bark
Squeeze out any Extra Air & Seal, then Spread the Mixture Evenly (Flat) in the Bags
The Bark Will Expand from Water Absorption
Place the Bags into a Deep Metal Cake Dish (to Keep them Contained) and Place in the Freezer
Freeze: 6-12 Hours (Per Cycle)
Thaw: 3-4 Hours at Room Temp (Fully Thawed and Mushy)
At each Full Thaw, Mush up & Smash Bark to Help Break Up Fibers
Can lightly hit with Hammer to Break up Larger Chunks (if Not Powdered)
Plan on 24-60 Hours Minimum Total Time for these 3-5 Cycles
=========================================================================================================================
2. Warm Water Soak ---> Loosen up Alkaloids, Remove Tannins, Pigments, Sugars, Gums, Plant Fats, Saponins
This Rinse Speeds up Pulls in Step 4's Process
Also Reduces Emulsions from Bark Fat While Pulling from Solvent in Step 4
You will Use about 1-1.5 Gallons of Distilled Water Warmed up to 120-130F Degrees
Do Not Exceed 135F
Can be done on Stove in a Stainless Steel Pot or with Microwave in a Glass Bowl
Should be Comfortably Warm like a Hot Tub or Baby Bottle (Use Thermometer)
Add Bark to a Large Glass Bowl
Pour in Enough Water to Cover the Bark with Room to Stir/Agitate
Stir for a Few Minutes (Every 5 Minutes), Breakup Clumps
Bark should Feel Soft, Hydrated, and Pliable
Let Soak for 15 Minutes Per Rinse Cycle & Drain All Water out through Cheesecloth and Stainless Steel Funnel
Repeat this Process 3X total
After 3 Rinses and Fully Drained, Discard the Water
Removed Bark from Cheese Cloth & Place it into Muslin Cloth
Ring Out the Bark through Muslin Cloth
Always Pre-Wash New Muslin Cloth in Warm Distilled Water for 5-10 Minutes Before Use
Cloth can be Damp Before Ringing Out Bark
Bark should be Lightly Damp for Next Step
=========================================================================================================================
3. Basify with Hydrated Pickling Lime & Dist. Water ---> Convert DMT-Tannate/Oxalate to DMT Freebase
Take the Damp Bark from the Muslin Cloth & place it in a Pyrex Baking Dish
Add Lime Directly to Bark
Use 2:1 Ratio Lime to Bark (Approx. 900-1000 Grams)
Then Add Room Temp Distilled Water to the Lime / Bark Mix
1.5:1 Ratio Water to Bark (600-650ml Water Per 1Lbs. of Bark)
Wear Chemical Gloves and Mix by Hand - Scoop and Fold like Dough & Break up Clumps
Add the Hydrated Lime & Mix Thoroughly so all Bark Contacts Lime Evenly
Let it Form a Thick, Clay-Like Paste - Not Soupy
Let it Sit for 8-12 Hours Minimum Before Pulling - Sitting Over Night is also Safe (Ensures Full Freebasing)
In Either Case, Cover the Pyrex Dish with the Pyrex Lid & let sit at Room Temp. (70-80F)
Stir up the Mixture by Hand 1 or 2 Times During this Wait Period (at Hour 4 and 10 are good)
Bark can Safely sit in Lime for up to 3 Days if Covered/Airtight, No Heat, Moist, In a Cool Dark Place
Before Moving on to Pulling, Add 180-225 Grams of Non-Iodized Salt Directly to the Bark/Lime Mixture
Morton's Canning & Pickling Salt Specifically
Wait until Lime & Bark have Marinated for at least 6-12 Hours
Stir Thoroughly by Hand & let Sit for 60 Minutes, Then Stir Again and Let Sit 3 More hours (4 Hours Max Diffusion)
*** Salt Can Sit Over Night as well if Need Be - No Added Benefit Other than spacing Time
*** Salt Improves Ionic Strength (Encourages Alkaloid Migration into Naphtha) & Reduces Emulsions
*** Salt can also Increase Final Yield
=========================================================================================================================
4. Pull with Warm Non-Polar Solvent (VM&P Naphtha) ---> Migrate DMT Freebase from Bark to Non-Polar Solvent
*** Steps 4-6 Need to be done in a Well Ventilated Area with No Open Flames ***
*** Chem. Gloves, Safety Glasses, & Respirator Must be Used ***
Always Perform an Evaporation Test on New Bottles of Naphtha
Sunnyside Brand is Best Budget Naphtha - Otherwise go with Fisher Scientific Lab-Grade Petroleum Ether
Always Dry-Test your Solvent before Pulling (5ml in a Glass Dish to Evap. Check for Odor/Residue)
Move the Lime/Bark Paste out of the Dish and into a Clean Mason Jar - Scrape Dish Clean / Swirl Naphtha if Needed
For 1Lbs. of Bark, Split in Half and put each Half into Separate 1-Gal. Mason Jars
Then Pull with Warm Naphtha (110-120F) in the Amount of 1-1.5ml Per Gram of Bark
To Warm Naphtha, add 500ml of Solvent to a Glass Jar (200-250ml for each 1-Gal. Mason Jar - Per Pull)
Set the Jar into a Bowl of Warm Water for 5-10 Minutes (110-120F)
Once the Temp is Reached, Use Solvent for Pull Immediately (Naphtha Cools Fast)
Cover Jar while waiting for your Pulls - Do Not Shake Ever - Roll it, Swirl, or Stir for 10-15 Minutes
Preferably with loose Jar Caps (Pressure can Assist in Forming Emulsions)
Let Sit until Naphtha Rises to the Top (15-60 Minutes) & Layers Fully Separate
Shaking too Hard (and Pressure) is what Causes Emulsions - a Milky Layer Between Solvent & Bark
If an 'Emulsion' Forms, Add a Pinch of Pickling Salt an Gently Stir (Ionic Boost)
Or Place Jars in a Warm Water Bath in a Cooler at 125-130F for 30-60 Minutes to Help Layers Separate
Leave the Jar Lids Loose while in the cooler, as well as 2 Hours after being Removed from the Cooler
Let them cool for 2 Hours before Checking Layer Separation and Closing the Lids
If not, Add More Pickling Salt - 50-100 Grams Mix in Slowly, Gentle Agitation Only!
Wait another 2 Hours before Checking
Use a Baster to Carefully Pull Off the Top Naphtha Layer from the Mason Jar
Get just Below the Top-Layer Surface - Keep Tip in upper 25% of the Jar
Add a Slight Tilt to the Jar to Pool Solvent to One Side
Put Solvent into Glass Mason Jar Through Lab Grade Filter and Glass Funnel
Then Let Cool & Repeat (4-6 Pulls / 30-60 Min Apart / First 2 Pulls Get the Most)
Pull 1 - 200-250ml - Settle for 1 Hour
Pull 2 - 200ml - Settle for 1 Hours
Pull 3 - 150ml - Settle for 2 Hours
Pull 4 and Beyond (Optional) - 150ml - Settle for 4 Hours
12.5+pH Confirms Still Non-Polar-Safe (Optional)
Pour the Solvent from the Measuring Cup into a Pyrex Dish
Can Add and Swirl 5-10ml of Cold Naphtha into the Mason Jar to Rinse out any Remnants
Pour into Pyrex Dish with your Pulled Solvent
=========================================================================================================================
5. Freeze-Precipitate Solvent ---> Crystal Forming
24-48 Hours
Run all the Naphtha from the Jar through Lab Grade Filter & Funnel Directly into Pyrex Dish
Rinse Original Jar with Cold Naphtha to Recover Leftover Crystals & Pour into Same Filter
Let Filter Drain Completely
The Naphtha Solution (Contains Alkaloids) Should look Clear or Slightly Yellow if it is Clean
If Oily, there are too Many Impurities that were Pulled
Place Pyrex Dish in Freezer & Leave Completely Undisturbed for 24 Hours (Vibration Disrupts Crystal Growth)
=========================================================================================================================
6. Drying ---> Crystal Yield
Carefully Decant (Pour Off) Naphtha from the Pyrex Dish without Disturbing the Crystals
Place the Dish in a Cool, well Ventilated, Dust-Free Spot
Preferably with a Gentle Fan Blowing Lightly Across the Dish
Could take 4-12 Hours for Dry Time Depending on Air Flow and humidity
When Fully Dry (Not Clumpy) & Odorless, Scrape Crystals into Lab Grade Filter
=========================================================================================================================
7. Naphtha Cold Rinse ---> Remove Surface Oils (Optional for Lightly Yellow Crystals - But Recommended Regardless)
*** Needs to be done in a Well Ventilated Area with No Open Flames ***
*** Chem. Gloves, Safety Glasses, & Respirator Must be Used ***
Place Naphtha Can, an Empty Mason Jar, & Glass Measuring Cup in Freezer for 5+ Hours (Must be at Least -4F)
Get Pouring Funnel and Lab Grade Filters Ready
When Ready, Make sure Crystals are Fully Dry ahead of Time & place them in the Lab Grade Filter sitting in Funnel
Crush the Crystals into Fine Powder to Increase Impurity Removal
Pour Naphtha Over the Top of the Crystals, Just Enough to just get the Crystals Wet -Let Drip out Fully
Do this 3 Times with 2 Minutes Between each Rinse & Observe Results (Waxy Residue)
Move the Filter from the Funnel and place in an Elevated Situation for 360 Degree Air Flow
Can Lay the Filter on a Screen of some Type or Suspend the Filter by some Other Means
Put that in a Place that is Well Ventilated, Room-Temp, Dust-Free, & Preferably with a Gentle Fan
Placing a Fan Directly Beneath the Filter Works Best
1-2 Hours to Dry with Air Flow
6-12 Hours to Dry without Air Flow
You will know it is Dry when the Filter is Crisp, No Smell of Naphtha, & Crystals are Firm
Once Dry, Gently Tap or Scrape Crystals Off the filter and onto Parchment Paper or Directly into Bindle or Glass
=========================================================================================================================
8. Naphtha Re-Dissolve & Re-Freeze ---> Remove Plant Fats & Waxes (Optional - Only Really Need for Dirty Yields)
Reduces Yield but Increases Purity
*** Needs to be done in a Well Ventilated Area with No Open Flames ***
*** Chem. Gloves, Safety Glasses, & Respirator Must be Used ***
***Will Add Directions at a Later Date***
