Anne Blackburn's "Shelf Fungus" live in a grove of ancient cedar stumps. Old property-law books were taken down from the shelves, carved, innoculated with fungal mycelium, and coated with wax. Installed in Pacific NW rainforest, they bio-mimic the natural fungi, which are able to remediate the heavy-metals of the printing inks used in those old law-books.
