Always, always, always have fire extinguishers in every room of the house. Cheapest fire insurance policy you can own.
Also, as stated above, these kinds of things get people thrown in jail for questionable activities. Fire investigators often go though the entire house after each incident.

Another thing,
Any grower needs to have a voltage meter and check the readings of their outlets they are using for their grow with their equipment turned on.
If the reading is > 7 volts + or - from 120 don't even bother using it. 116v is OK, for example, but 104 would be a big Do Not Use.
This is because the loss in voltage accumulates over the area from where the outlet is, to the fusebox, and a loss equates to that energy being distributed somewhere along the path, which creates heat, which causes fires. This is why VU meters are important!
Another tip. If you are running more than 1kw, run them off different 30 amp fuses to help with the loads.

Good reminder and word of caution. Thanks for sharing. My rule for years has been no getting drunk or high at any time while a grow is in progress. There are plenty of better places to trip and it's not worth taking a risk. Although I did have one friend who was always wasted, always playing with fire, and had the fire department come into his place during a shroom grow. Luckily for him, a couple plastic bins in the closet don't really look suspicious.
