Came across this while googling images of "Ornithopters" and I just HAD to share it
with my fellow Nexians.
ElectroActive Polymers are amazing. The endless possibilities it brings in technology.
I'm kind of amazed I've never heard of it before. Is it perhaps
a very recent invention? Anyways. Here's a nice article that will tell you all about it:
And scavenging a little further on that hizook site I found this EAP blimp that basically
swims through the sky like a fish would through water:
Imagine building a shoal of these
sky fish, painting them with colorfull glow in the dark paints & unleashing them at night
over a busy city. That oughta be a night to remember.
On a related note this material has similair properties & applications, but far superior
& has many other fascinating properties as well. Superelastic Carbon Nanotube Aerogel: http://www.hizook.com/blog/2010/04/22/electroactive-polymer-eap-robot-blimp
Well anyways,
Enjoy!
