Entire Lives

I heard some stories all over the place, of people reporting that while on DMT they experience what felt like to them an entire lifetime (sometimes more than one lifetime) in the 20 or so mintues while they were tripping. Has this happened to you? And is this a real and something I should expect or something that is rare.

Go in with no expectations.

The appearance of such an experience is possible. What's really going on no one knows.

And yeah, time can either dilate, or you just have an experience that seems longer in some way, by hours, years, millenia, or falling into eternity.

Worrying about it doesn't help. There's nothing you can do to prepare for such a potential event. Witness and allow my friend.

I have heard stories about this kind of experience. I wonder if it is like downloading a memory dump of a life or many lives, and quickly scanning through the data. This in turn leaves the impression of living that life, but in a more condensed echo of actually active participation.

I have had time dilation before where a few hours feel like a week has passed. I have been pondering this lately, and I suspect this has to do with memory quite a bit. I think a strong trip can wipe out short-term memories, I compare it to RAM in a computer. I estimate mine to be roughly 5-7 days.

I arrived at this conclusion through observing my thoughts when on vacation for a week. After 5 or so days, I start to forget little habitual details such as sleeping in my own bed and walking around my house. These are replaced with my new location gradually over these several days.

Perhaps these major time dilations are folded up memories floating around in hyperspace that get downloaded for one reason or another and then unzipped like a file on a computer. Maybe there is important data in there that we need to see. Perhaps a hyperspace program that can generate such a file in our own mind that suits some sort of unknown purpose.

I'm rambling on now, anyway I hope some others have some enlightening revelations on this. I am genuinely curious.

In my experience, extreme time dilation can happen, but it's not equivalent to the ordinary perception of that same time. It's a very altered perception with a "timelessness" feeling to it. I don't believe it's possible to experience it to be "a lifetime" in the literal sense, with its many boring and routine moments. It can be afterwards assessed to have felt like X time but it's not literally experienced as that same X time in ordinary consciousness.

In my deepest pharmahuasca experiences, the concept of time just lost any meaning. Coming down was experienced as almost a rebirth, and time itself was being born again after having disappeared. I've had similar experiences with LSD, too.

@Great Gig in the Sky , as @Voidmatrix says, go in with no expectations. It's a very different state of consciousness, so it's guaranteed to be nothing like you can imagine. Even recalling it after the fact pales in comparison with the experience itself.

Yes exactly, it's rather a feeling of a lifetime passing, or an eternity, or even multiple eternities. It's the difference between being able to think about these concepts during waking sober life and experiencing them as a deep and true feeling/being under dmt, and it's more extreme when smoalked. The word "feeling" is lacking in describing how it really feels.

Unless the shit is like that episode of Star Trek where a probe scans Picard and he lives the full life of Galen.
